Default Recommend me a good double rifle hard case.

I'm in the need of an upgrade. I want to be able to carry two AR's. I've looked at Pelican, SKB, Plano, etc. What say you guys?

Pelican if you have the money. Otherwise, Plano Gun Guard.

How'd this thread end here? Im looking for a double hard case for a scoped and whatever else I feel like dragging with me that day too!

I literally have about 25 assorted soft cases, doubles, singles, scoped, and pistols. Ive had the single hard cases, but some are flimsy. You have to be careful of the flimsy ones!

I'm happy with the flambeau I got from Big 5. It is lockable, the foam inside is firm and it is easy to clean. Can't go wrong for $45.

Pelican 1750 or above

I travel on a regular basis for work and the Pelican has held up to the TSA and the airlines like a champ!

Depending on the length of the ARs (and whether you want to break down the upper/lowers or not) a Pelican 1720 will fit 2x 16" ARs with room to spare. My 1750 can hold my .308 AR with room to spare, but the configuration would be awkward to squeeze an extra 5.56 AR in there. It'd hold 2x 16" ARs without breaking them down no problem though. Personally I'd say play with a 1720 and make everything fit in there. A 1750 won't always fit where you want it to in the car/trunk/closet/etc.

I absolutely love my SKB 5009 double rifle transport case. It fits my two Pedersoli .45-70 rifles and has seen many hunting trips so far. It's airline approved (ATA 300 Category 1) and has wheels and a carry & drag handle which makes it very handy for moving through an airport. It also fits tactical rifles with room to spare. Yeah, it costs $270, but it's been worth every penny.

Don't skimp on a hard case. The reason you buy a hard case is to protect valuable firearms during travel. A cheap hard case won't stand up to the abuse that the more expensive hard cases will. Plus, your firearms may get damaged. Get as good a hard case as your budget will allow. Or save up and then get one. You'll be glad you spent the extra money and got a more rugged case. Cheers! --1911ShooterPhil

I have the SKB 4009 short rifle case, very similar to 1911shooterphil's but fits AR, Ak, and other more compact modern sporting rifles. It's not lightweight - I think about 20 lbs. it will take two rifles up to 40" long and with optics and pistol grips. It retails for around $220 but I got it on sale for $120, so search around and you can find them at a good discount.

I use it for the range, since it's easy to move with the wheels. I would trust it for air travel. The integrated locks are mediocre but the clasps for padlocks make for a solid locking system. I can't imagine what a luggage handler would have to do to cause damage to it, much less the rifles inside.

I got it on Wayfair.com a couple of years ago. I just checked and right now they're the same price as Amazon -$209. I do see them on sale every now and again for around $150 though.
