Default CMP stamped stocks

Anyone know whether the CMP ever stamped their stocks with a "CMP" stamp? I recently ran across an H&R Garand with this stamped on the grip and wondered if it was legit.

My Springfield has a box on the left side of the wrist that is marked with an eagle and CMP in it.

http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/stocksets.htm

According to the CMP web site, "Each stock hand stamped with CMP cartouche".

When I got a Winchester from the CMP it came with a new birch stock with CMP stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip.

I refinished the stock.

Birch stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip while walnut is on the left side above the TG.

Thanks, guys.

I guess it is a genuine CMP stock. Now I'm wondering if it is a genuine CMP Garand.

Its a Boyd's stock I think made for the CMP. I got one on my H&R complete with nasty orange finish.

I just got around to fixing it.

My SA received in April has a Boyds stock dated Oct. 2011. The CMP stamp is on the left side, nothing on the pistol grip.
CMP has a forum with an "Ask Orest" thread. Orest Michaels is the COO. They may be able to answer if and when they used that stamp on the pistol grip.

Yep, it's the old style stamp. Every once in a while one of them still shows up on a newly sold rifle.
