Default Is the new FN Five Seven mk2 on the roster?

The new 2013 FN Five Seven Mark II, is it on the roster?

The Roster shows:
FN 5.7 I.O.M. (Matte Black) / Steel, Polymer
FN 5.7 U.S.G. (Matte Black) / Steel, Polymer
FN Five-seveN / Steel; Polymer

The last one is kind of vague. Is that model for the new mk2?

You answered your own question when you referred to the gun as "new"...

So you read the roster, couldn't find it, and then asked anyways?
What more could you want, besides the official roster?
I don't see why you would even trust someone on the internet over the roster.

I would be confused too.
There is (should be the last one) was added to roster on 07/15/13.

I would think a new model is added, not a discontinued model, right?

That model is discontinued from FN, right

Where do you see that there was one added 7/15/13? The newest "Recently Added Models" list on the DOJ site is from 7/11/13. Incidentally, just because a gun has a later roster expiration date doesn't mean it was more recently added, just more recently renewed.

actually, USG model has LCI. it's a small ball-bearing looking and spring loaded pin. pops up right on top left of slide.

Are we sure that new newly added model isn't the MK2? The previous Five Seven models did not have a model name on the slide, but the Mk2 has "Five-seveN" on the slide which matches the new listing on the roster exactly:

Code:
FN Five-seveN / Steel; Polymer	Pistol	4.75"	5.7x28mm	7/4/2014
Were there any functional changes to the firearm or were the changes cosmetic? The only think I can tell is front slide serrations and a different color mag release and selector. If cosmetic only, according to PC 32030 it could be submitted for inclusion on the roster without a need to comply with mag disconnect, LCI, etc... To me it appears that this new listing IS for the MK2.

the slide is now a one piece (under the polymer cover). i think the USG models have welded? 2 piece slide

Well it begs the question then - just what is the newly added Five-Seven if not the MK2? I hate the ambiguity of the roster.

personally, i think it is the MK2, just not marketed as such on the roster. Maybe this way FN won't have to put it up as a "new" model???

here's from wikipedia:

"Five-seven MK2
The Five-seven MK2 model was introduced in 2013, and is now featured on FN Herstal's official website.[47] This new model has cocking serrations on the front of the slide as well as on the rear. It has been reported to have a one-piece metal slide (under the polymer cover), whereas the previous models have a two-piece welded metal slide.[48] There is apparently still a choice of fixed or adjustable sights: the model shown on FNH's site is a fixed-sight version; a model with adjustable sights was photographed at the 2013 SHOT show.[48][49] The rear sight on the adjustable-sight version has also been changed, with beefed-up construction and white straight-edge sight references compared to the present three-dot target-style sights; these have been described as "combat adjustable sights".[49]
The MK2 as shown has a black frame and slide, with flat black controls in place of the grey controls of the IOM and USG models. FNH is not currently stating on their site whether this model will be produced in any other colors."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Five-seven
So, no difference in function...seems like refinement

OP, interesting question. The roster had only 2 guns chambered in 5.7x28mm. This new one looks like the new MK2. However, no one here seems to know.

Just sent FNHUSA an e-mail. Hopefully they'll answer the question. I'll post it if I get anything from them.

2 gun stores in my area are selling the 2013 mkII. One of the stores does not do SSE AT ALL and they know their stuff (Rivercity Gun Exchange). Mine gets released from jail on the 26th! Great carry option... Can't wait!

Hey Guys

I just did what we should of all done before, JUST SEND AN EMAIL TO THEM! they sent a reply and YES it is the Mk2 .. And I agree, it's so ambiguous, you can't tell on that recently added list whether or not it is, but just asking, made me happy

Wow, so that little ball bearing on the side actually counts for roster purposes as an LCI? Why the heck is everyone else doing the horrible shark fin with big letters on it? Or did FN sneak this one in under the "cosmetic differences only" provision...

I also just got off the phone with FN myself and they also confirmed to me that the newly listed Five-seveN IS the MK2.

the LCI on the 5-7 isn't very visual, but you can feel it with your left thumb (shooting position).

Also, FN probably got away with it, cuz it's not a "NEW" model. all parts are probably all interchangeable.

We had a couple 10 round MK2 models in stock just a couple weeks ago, but sold them on GunBroker because they were still "off roster" at the time.

I contacted FN USA this morning and the rep advised that the MK2 is going through the California approval process. The roster shows does not show MK2. Does it matter? I know California it has to be very specific?

The MK2 is approved. I recently purchased a MK2 Five-Seven from Alquist. They are indeed legal and on the roster.

Default Clear as mud!

So some people say that the MK2 is absolutely not on the list, some say that it absolutely is on the list. Then we have the answer that it will be on the list soon, according to FNH. And finally there is the answer that it is unclear from the list exactly what models are on the list, and whether or not that includes the MK2.

Of course the honest answer is that if you can buy one then it is as good as on the list, whether it actually is or not.
