Question So, where did all the Nagant's go?

I'm looking for a Nagant revolver, and I cannot find one under $150-$175 ANYWHERE!
I mean, there's got to be SOME place that has them for a decent price.... right?

Right?

Big 5 doesn't sell handguns. There was one place online that had some recently, but I can't remember where. I wish I would have snagged one of these when they were 80 bucks.

Last time I looked SOG had some for 120.00. Need a C&R though as I don't think they will ship to A CA 01 FFL. You could check though or ask a FFL to order you one if they will allow it.

I am sooooooo glad you typed this up for a response. Any time someone corrects someone else's grammar, I can just feel the great contribution it has made to life as we know it.

I really wasn't fond of my MO marked Nagant and had a rough time actually selling it a couple years back. Hand picked it from J&G for $150. Barely able to sell it for $120 about a year later. Now a run of the mill is selling for $200. Man, I missed out on that, and actually wish I'd have kept it just because it was such a cool piece of time.

Empire Arms had a mess of them off of their private e-mail list just a few days ago. He has one left for $195.00 http://www.empirearms.com/pistols.htm at the bottom of the page.

You really should sign up for his e-mail list, he had a ton of them and only the people on the e-mail list get the first shot at buying them.

Try finding an 1887 Nagant in decent shape for a decent price. You'll be lucky to find a shooter for $400 or so. You post reads like you cant find a Chevy for a decent price yet, you never bothered to mention the exact model you are looking for. There are several different makes and models of Nagant revolvers. Which one are you looking for? I could assume you just want a standard double action 1895 Russian but, that would just be an assumption. But, you could be looking for a different model chambered in .45LC, 7.5 Nagant, etc.

Your standard, shooting condition M1895 Nagant revolver in 7.62x38R. That's all.

Good point to bring up, though.

1895 nagant revolver in 7.62 nagant for 119.00 in stock at SOG. Probably wont last long since haven't seen them anywhere else for awhile. I bet you can still find some surplus ammo around too if you search.

Yup. Looks like SOG is the place to buy. $120 and they do have ammo in stock. Kind of high on the ammo though; $6.95 a box.

If you want one just go online and place your order. Then sit back and watch what happens.

Isn't the OP about 4 years from being able to buy a pistol, or am I thinking of someone else?

Your point? My dad wants one, I won't touch one with a ten foot pole until I actually start reloading and getting some ammo for it!
And technically, I'm one year away from owning one: an 18 year old can own a handgun if it is transferred to them by one of their parents.

I have one with an awful P&W billboard on it.

I have always planned to sell it and get one not so ravaged by the importer. Seems like I might not have so much trouble selling it, but buying a replacement...

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you, Surplus-Addict. When I was your age I would go through books and make lists of all the guns I wanted when I got to be old enough... Now many years later I'm finally trying to realize that goal (although my interests have changed quite a bit).

The Nagant is, to me, definitively a "curio" revolver. It's fun for a few rounds, but then you want something that is more...well, just more everything. The grip is odd, the double action trigger unusable, cocking the hammer is difficult compared to any other revolver I've shot. If you're looking to grab a few milsurps before they go the way of the dodo I would recommend a Tokarev, CZ-82, Walther P38/P1, or some others unless you really like the Nagant for historical reasons. Good luck, and don't you or your father pay too much when you find one. $150 would be the top end, and I think when the current "worry" period is over you'll be able to find them again for that price or less.

Not completely unusable. It is a little better than the DA trigger on a standard COP. Right? I should have pulled out my 1887 and 1895 yesterday for you to compare them to the COP you shot.

My Nagant was shown at the range. One person could not even pull the trigger on DA. Others just laughed. Single action is actually quite good.

There are lots of fixes on the internet. I side shaped the main spring and now DA is slightly worse than a standard police revolver (a big improvement). Could go further but not until I get a backup spring.

In other words don't expect too much. Mine is a $99 rebuild.

Curious, I've been looking and had one sold out from under me last night, but what's the average price for the standard revolver? On GB I see $200ish then jumps up to $500+

DA trigger pull is certainly worthy of starting a conversation, but not unusable.

I'd like to find one myself at a reasonable price.

That seems insanely high to me.

I bought mine three years ago for $115 if I recall right. Got it in a deal with a Cz52

Its in fine shape but it has a nasty billboard. For 200 bucks I'd want something with no, or at least a small stamp.

The DA trigger on mine is tough, but doable. It builds character... I got a box of 50 rounds with the gun. I still have a few left after all this time.

To view firearms on SOG, you must have an account there. And you may have to have an FFL on file too but I'm not 100% about that.

Unfortunately, with SOG you have to sign up for an account to view their inventory. Once you do that you'll find them on page 2 of the "surplus handguns" section.

Here is the link but I don't know that it will work if you aren't signed in.

If it something you want, I don't think that price is to far out of line for a nice example. I am not personally super interested in the Nagant pistol.

I decided I want a Nambu. Would you pay almost a grand for a pistol you might never shoot?
