Thumbs down beware!!! attn mods possible scammer!!

Ive done numerous transfers with a variety of ppl and always have had good responses. I made a post in the wtb for a g26 and received a email from benniejaquez101@gmail.com stating he "has the items im looking for" .. I then ask how he got my email he replied calguns. so Im thinking ok that's a little weird he emailed me but alright (ive never had a calgunner email usually we contact each other by pm). I asked him how much and his location he replies nib 350 and he's located in Florida. RED FLAG!
Im almost positive he didn't pm because he trolls cguns with a fake profile and had the intent to scam me

Calgunners beware.

Ps @moderators I Didn't know were to post this

Depending on your user settings, your email may be visible to others. I would suggest making sure it's turned off.

Click User CP at the top, then "Edit Options", then UN-Check the box that says "Receive Email from Other Members". This way, only members can PM you via Caguns, and you won't get unsolicited emails.

Thank you! I did not know that, highly recommended to update, and nip any shenanigans in the bud

The words "the item" is a dead giveaway, as well as being on the other side of the country. I had some Nigerian respond to a Craigslist ad for a junky old car, said he wanted it shipped to Florida, called it "the item", and said he would overpay me and I could wire him the balance. Same scams, different days. Good thing their syntax usually stinks, giving themselves up right off. A friends son actually fell to the tune of $7,000, a very expensive lesson indeed.

Itís actually kind of beautiful that in America a large group of people known for owning guns are only feared because they vote.

This is happening on a couple of different boards I'm on. The others are not gun related either. It seems to be the new thing to troll message board classifieds looking for WTB adds. All the same type of emails.

i did get a response after a day or two. lack of price, details, etc. makes me think it's shady also.

You mean he wasn't the real deal?

Dang. I was sure I had finally found the droids I had been looking for. I figured that's what he meant by "items".

You guys are idiots. These arent scams.
The king of sudan personally emailed me and said he would pay me $1,000,000 in a month if I send him $1,000 now. He said the $1k would be to pay taxes to release the funds.
Guess what I did? I sent him the $1,000! Think about it, $1,000 for $1,000,000! You'd have to be stupid not to do it!
Im putting a down payment on a new car and a house today.

I just sent him this:

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply. Do you still have the item from my ad? IIRC, you wanted $750 for it, right? I've got the money. How should I send it to you? Do you take PP?

I wonder how long I can string him along????

Make up something that can't possibly be Googled for an image, then tell him to send you pics of it.

Something like a replacement "diaglitioner hopholic valve for a Westinghouse Model 53 sacrometer ".

Hello,

Let me hear if you got any leads/order on your WTB ads listed on my subject
Email?? I have got some up for sale.

Thank you,

Bennie Jaquez
Contact email (benniejaquez101@gmail.com)

Sent from my iPhone

Like WTF !?!?! I can't imagine anyone understanding let alone falling for this BS. I can't wait until we get the ability to return email EMP burst to fry goofballs like this.

He probably ran an automated script that went through all WTB ads, opened up the seller's profile, and saved any exposed e-mail addresses. Then he runs another script that mass spams all gathered e-mails with the "item" e-mail. Same scripts probably work on all vBulletin boards.

Well, I just got this email today:

Greg,

My wife runs a moneygram approved agent outlet so it makes it very

you with payment details.

Thanks

How should I respond? He hasn't even told me if he still has "the item" or not. However, he's obviously ready to take the money.

Get the payment details and report to Moneygram. Given that they were ordered to pay 100mil to fraud victims in Dec., they will probably act on it faster than any LEA could even hope to.

Tell him, "Send me your mailing address. I will send a UPS service representative to come pick up the item from you for delivery. You will have to pay for the shipping but you will be reimbursed through UPS upon confirmation of delivery. I have done this many times so I can assure you that not only is it secure, but its fast and easy!"
