Default What's with all the spambots lately?

Seems like a daily thing...

They've been a daily thing for a while. It's just that they normally don't do it in the middle of the day.

A pop up blocker has nothing to do with it. It's bots making forum accounts and then posting stupid threads with tons of links with the hope that someone will click on them to try and watch a movie or something.

What the hell are you talking about? Just don't click on the spam links. It has nothing to do with popups or firewalls.

Sorry, just wondering how to stop the spam from appearing at all. Not a computer geek, just trying to go about my business on the Internet and not be pestered. Thought somebody with the ability to help out a fellow wanderer would speak up. Spam wastes time and space.

Yes, but the thread is about the spambots posting spam threads on this site. It has nothing to do with your computer.

There is nothing that you can do on your end to stop the Spam threads from coming up. You will get pretty used to telling which ones are crap so you won't waste your time opening them. Just ignore them and admin will delete them when they get a chance.

Fore general internet protection I use Google Chrome and the Adblock widget.

Don't post in them, that just bumps them up. Just click the triangle with the ! in upper right corner of the spam post and report SPAM. The Mods clean them right up !

I do my fair share as well. I don't respond to them, just use the report button.

I wonder if a change to the join form where you need to copy the letters in a box would stop them?
