Smart. Unless I miss my guess, that's so you can have your digital video storage unit (connected to your home surveillance) inside the safe, where it can't be easily stolen by a break-in artist.

Just a heads up. I wanted to buy this safe, but having 18 rifles and seeing my friends barley hold 20 Im looking for a bigger safe. As stated by someone else already, 24 gun safe in reality is a a 18 gun safe. So if your like me and are already in that zone might want to think big.

I've moved big safes a few times and can not physically do it again. Even back in the day with help it is freakin dangerous - scary! I'm thinking two smaller ones bolted together the next time.

Just something to think about...

Was talking to one of the Rhino reps about the locks that come on the BigHorn safes from Costco. She confirmed it was a SecuRam branded electronic lock (1yr warranty) and that they no longer offer an option to swap in a mechanical dial lock. Anybody else get this same response about swapping out the lock?

It showed as in-stock early this morning at that price and some of us (myself included) were able to place orders.

As someone else speculated, Costco probably flagged it OOS once all us anxious Calgunners started putting through orders for a sale item that wasn't supposed to be available for two more days.

Ordered 7/9 and got a call from the trucking company that it is scheduled for delivery this afternoon. Not bad, especially considering the canned "Delivery will take 4-6 weeks" estimate when I placed the order.

Also worth mentioning is that a glitch in my order caused Costco to ship two rather than one. According to the dispatcher, they have another customer who is also supposed to receive two safes, which suggests this might have been system-wide. If that's the case, you might see this go OOS quickly, then come back in stock once they collect all the over-shipments.

LOL I know. I was scrambling to make room in the garage this morning before heading to work. Still better than having to wait 6 weeks for it though!

Looking for a good option as its filling up fast. I know some of the larger safes come with one attached already. Thanks.
Kind of late to the discussion, but I have this safe and love it. I also added a door organizer and it works perfectly. I bought this one: Liberty door panel organizer It is made for a bigger safe but after researching it, I realized it is only for bigger safes so the side hooks will have room to strap.

I have found, that the Bighorn door (carpet inside) is about 1/2" wider than the door organizer so I wasn't really worried about the side hooks working. I was originally thinking I would just sew velcro on the back of the organizer so it would strap down flat but I found that if you take the supplied side hooks, install them into the door, and then wrap the strap through the hook eye from the top and attach it to the carpet behind the organizer it is quite secure. (basically do the opposite of what the insert picture on the web page shows and attach under the organizer)

Anyway, it's worth it as it adds quite a bit of room to the safe.

If you think it might be too small it is. Even worse if you have a bunch of ARs and AKs. The pistol grips just kill any extra space. I picked up a new gun yesterday. Took me 15 minutes of wrapping guns in towels and craming them against each other and dissembling to get the door closed. Buy as big as you can afford.

on the battery keybad thing. What if you were to take the batteries out on purpose? say if u were leaving on vacation and didnt need access to it? That way burglar would have to look for batteries before messing with the lock. Or is this not possible do to the fact that password reset or permanent lock down

Possible to do it as the password is kept in a non-volatile memory.

However, if a burglar was going to access your safe while you were on vacation, he wouldn't screw with the keyboard, he would use his battery powered Sawzall, cut off a corner of the safe and grab what he wanted (Disclaimer: I am not a burglar and have never been one, but this is what I believe would occur ).

I was going to respond how long the batteries last, but then I figured out I have only had mine for 6 months.

Anyway, the original batteries don't show any sign of weakening yet!

Realistically more like 12-14 (long) guns, a mix of pistol grips and non, iron sights and optics.

And when you say this realistically holds 12-14 long guns you mean having long guns take up the left side and right side, correct? If you just to intend to use half the safe for long guns then you're looking at only 6-7, right?

CRAP!, I got the email showing my order is now in the "shipped" status and I got a tracking number from Reddaway Trucking. I was expecting a call from them but when I went back to my order details I don't see that I included my phone number anywhere in the details.

Do you remember specifically entering in your phone number during the ordering process?

My number hasn't changed since I started my Costco Membership years ago so I assume they have it on file somewhere.
