Default Costco Bighorn Safe Deal Coming Back 10/3

Coming back 10/3. Item number will be 569035 (same as last time). Pricing will still be $599.99 plus tax, delivered curbside.

Let's see if this linky works:

https://www.costco.com/webapp/wcs/st...rderByItemsAdd

Still seems to be active today, 8/5, even though website specifies :"Valid 07/11/13 through 08/04/13. While supplies last." May go away at any time, but will probably be back again.

Seems to be active now. Go to the "order by item number" page and input 569035, or try this link:
https://www.costco.com/webapp/wcs/st...rderByItemsAdd

Safe comes up @ the $599 price when I just did it.

The Costco Bighorn safe deal for $599.99 is coming back starting 7/11. I got one of these and for the price it is really good. Highest level of security? Of course not, but nice and secure nonetheless.

19.1 cu ft and only ONLINE (you won't find these in the stores).

P.S.: Log on before the 11th: When I bought mine the sale became active 3-4 days before the "start" date.

bought mine last time it was on sale, for a first safe I couldn't complain, it's really easy to add electrical to and easy to move around the whole inside. doesn't store 22 guns but keeps my 4-5 rifles and a bit of ammo nicely. thinking about getting another one for upstairs.

Do they deliver it into the house? Or how many people do you need to move it in?

Delivery is "curbside" per the sales info. I wasn't home when they delivered, so my wife asked them to haul it up the driveway and into the garage, which they did without complaint. I've heard others who have offered a monetary tip to have delivery continued into one's home. But other then curbside delivery, nothing else is guaranteed.

Does this safe have a key back up in case the key pad does not work?

No - Having a key back-up is not secure.

But the typical reason a keypad would "fail" is due to the batteries going dead, and they are in the accessible head of keypad, so that they can be replaced,

If the keypad were to truly fail, then I don't know what options are available (C4?)

Thanks. My fear would be to be in a situation where I needed in my safe and I would have to deal with dead batteries.

Has anyone directly compared the 19ECB to the B6030EL ? I would like the 19ECB, especially at 599.99, but I fear that it might be too small. The B6030EL seems to be larger.

Bought one the last time it went on sale. No complaints. Per another poster, check every now and then as it went on sale a few days before the add stated. Think it lasted about a week or so after, but they will sell out, so if you want it, grab it! Has any owners put a racking or storage system on the inside of the door? Looking for a good option as its filling up fast. I know some of the larger safes come with one attached already. Thanks.

About 10 rifles. It also depends if you have pistol grip or optics on your rifle. No optics, no pistol grips you can push more.

Good safe for the price.

Yes, fairly easily but I'm 6'4" tall and weigh 250#. I just needed to get it inside my house from the garage. IIRC I used one of the ratcheting tie-down straps to strap the safe to my hand truck for security. Biggest issue was getting it up "over the hump" (over the doorway threshold from my garage).

Would NOT want to try moving one of these up or down stairs without a couple of STRONG buddies, but moving it around on the first floor is definitely doable.

Usually pretty easy to roll it where you want to go with a four wheeled utility cart or using pvc pipe.

I've currently got 11 in mine, and could SQUEEZE 2 more. Mix of rifles with and without pistol grips and scopes (most with). But at that capacity it definitely requires taking out the guns in front to access the ones in the back.

Also holds a nice number of hand guns if you use something like these:

So just put in fresh batteries once a year.

Also, I think most keypads beep to warn you when the battery gets low....and sometimes there is a backup coin battery you should change.

> Does the door come off easily?

Super easy, just open to 90 degrees, then lift it straight up/off. It is heavy, but you can do yourself, I did :-)

> Anyone been able to move this by themselves? (with a dolly)

Yes, especially if you take the door off before you move it around. I think I saw somewhere that almost 1/3 of the weight is the door?

FWIW, if you have a long shotgun (28" or greater), that will put the single shelf very high, to the point you almost can't get stuff on shelf w/o hitting door frame top each time something goes in/out. I'll probably put a notch or cut out in my shelf at some point so I can leave it lower, but still have longer shotgun in safe.

Does this safe have a hole for a power cord? I bolted mine down before I checked! I read that it does have one though in the back.

Yes you need to drill through the fire protection but there is an external hole on the lower right back of the safe.

Costco still has them at the original price. Here's the link. I'll be checking back on the weekend. I don't need another safe right now, but it never hurts to have more room than you need.

Delivery guy wheeled it into my garage and said "where do you want it?". I think I gave him $20 and he was pretty happy. Also, after I bought it at Costco I contacted the company about delivery and requested the mechanical lock instead of an electronic one. No problem at all.

Default Great customer service from manufacturer

I bought the demo model B6030EL and it had a few issues as a result of being available for Costco members to "play with" on the floor. Rhino Metals customer service was awesome and took care of everything to make it 100%

I have a similar safe that I bought at Lowes. It weighs 450 lbs. A friend helped me get it out of my truck then we used a hand truck and a couple of straps to move it into the house. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Do you guys think this is a better safe? Its a cannon and comes with the door organizer plus it has a plug inside. Yea I have to pay for shipping but if you calculate the tax at costco its only like a 150 more. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/st...n+safe&Ntk=All

Well, that one has 2 features going for it over the Costco Big Horn: (slightly) larger interior dimensions and the door organizer. Well, maybe 3 things as it looks like it also is pre-set up for electrical (and data) connections, with this on the inside already:

Probably just as secure and fireproof as the Bighorns, but not worth an extra $150 to me.
