Exclamation CGSSA Alert: California Shooting Community has Been Betrayed

California Shooting Community has Been Betrayed

More to come:
There was a lengthy conference called that included Director of Fish and Wildlife, Bill Gaines, Jim Waters of CA Waterfowl Assn. and Jerry Springer of the California Deer Association, Joe Pecsi (President of the California State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation) and others.

They discussed amendments to 711. A Guarantee to Hunt in California was discussed by Director of Fish and Wildlife. The Director of Fish and Wildlife would be the only person that could determine if a projectile was legal or not. After a conversation President of CDA (California Deer Association) and the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation ) signed off on the idea" to help the Director" by not opposing the other bill.

EDIT:
STraight off CDA's facebook page.

Quote:
I was at the meeting on Wednesday, August 28th with DFW staff and some other conservation groups. The meeting was not held to discuss AB 711 but at the beginning of the meeting there was some discussion of the Director's letter. It is totally false that CDA or any of the other conservation groups who participated in the meeting came out in support of AB 711, or voiced support of AB 711, or the amendments in the Director's letter.

Remember the saying, "Divide and Conquer" - is the false rumor coming from the antis to distract us from spending our time opposing AB 711? If not, shame on the person among us who started this false rumor!

Read my post. CDA did not do what the OP is reporting.

Yes.

To the OP. Proof or Zip it. No need to do the anti-hunters work for them!

Prove it. This is very typical divide and conquer tactic to try to get hunters and the general gun owning public at each others throats.

Wouldn't be the first time we got sold out. Anybody remember Mojave NP and being allowed to hunt there and keep the water resources intact and then the rug got pulled out from under us?

It's just a matter of time until hunting is a memory in CA. I give it 10 years.

Let's see how this shakes out before we hang anyone. I read the entire thread that kest linked too and everyone who is going to post in this should too.

My thoughts (and I'm not a conspiracy guy) is that I wouldn't be surprised if someone in favor of 711 "leaked" this or exaggerated what was discussed in an effort to turn us against ourselves right before the vote will come up instead of being united against the bill. Maybe that's naive but it's what I would do if I was an anti.

The whole idea of leaving whether ammo is legal or not up to a single politically appointed position in a Democrat stranglehold state is a totally asinine to me

I don't trust anyone. However I can't see anyone involved in hunting being dumb enough to believe and trust state about future hunting rights.

By the way, just because you shoot first doesn't mean you win, especially if you miss the target. It appears you guys were burning the wrong group at the stake. Anyhoo, I will refrain from joining the cal waterfowl lynch mob until the facts come out (though it does look like there may be something to that). Sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy.

From H. Paul Payne:

Quote:
I received the following email:
===================

Subject: AB 711

Need to talk with you or Paul about this when you get a chance. Thanks.

==========================

Dave and I just called Mr. Hennelly and he asked, "I would like you to clarify what happened at the meeting."

I responded, "As you know, I wasn't there. In fact, nobody from the NRA was permitted to attend that meeting."

As the discussion progressed, I asked Mr. Hennelly to send me CWA's letter of opposition to AB711 so that I could circulate it for him. He informed me that CWA is not in opposition to AB711 because he believes that "lead bans have saved over 1,000,000 birds since lead shot was banned federally."

I explained that lead shot and migratory birds is an entirely different issue than the hunting restrictions proposed in AB711.

We asked for "CWA to reconsider their position and join in solidarity with the other hunters and sportsmen in opposition to AB711." Unfortunately, Mr. Hennelly declined and said that CWA will continue to have a NEUTRAL POSITION on AB711.

I was asked no less than three times, by Mr. Hennelly, to explain the events the occurred during last week's meeting. Unfortunately, I wasn't there so I cannot do so. So, I am simply reporting on the discussion on the phone.

Paul

The premise that any government agency has "grant money" to give to non-profits and lobbying groups is ludicrous. Chew on that and the whole story falls apart.
