Default We are hiring support engineers with development background - San Diego, CA

Do you have skills with JAVA, mySQL, Javascript and customer service?

If so, we are hiring once again!

Responsibilities:

The Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for direct support of customers, developers and administrators. This includes web/email support as well as direct telephone support. The Technical Support Specialist must able to work outside of normal business hours (evening/weekend shifts, on-call, holidays).

- Providing software customization assistance.
- Answering 'how to' technical and application configuration questions
- Assisting in troubleshooting technical issues
- Aiding in translating business requirements into technical requirements
- Enabling the customer system administrator(s) to be self-sufficient.
- Friday-Tuesday and Thursday-Monday shifts available

Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Works well in a team environment
- Strong personal commitment to quality service
- Ability to understand and communicate complex technical systems
- Proven ability to maintain a professional demeanor when handling complex user issues
- Worked with/Administered IT Services Management software
- Experience with programming/scripting languages, preferably Java and JavaScript
- Experience with command line interfaces (linux, Terminal)

Preferred Skills
- Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS or JavaScript)
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming, preferably Java
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle
- Experience with any of the following technologies: POP3, SMTP, LDAP or Unix/Linux operating systems, networking

Experience
- 2+ years of experience professionally or academically in a technical role
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting solutions in a complex technical environment
- General knowledge of IT related subjects is highly desirable

Arg! I've done most of the above, save for the HTML/Java knowledge in multiple roles, as a field service tech/inside NOC tech/field engineer supporting local/metro/wide area networks for AT&T and as subcontractor to the FAA. Both supporting end users and peers in the field and the NOC environment.

Worth applying, or would the lack of HTML and Java pretty much make it a non-starter?
