Default KFI Reporting Santa Monica Shooter used 80% Lower

KFI is saying the Santa Monica shooter used an 80% lower for the shooting. This is bad news. Recorded this off the radio:

John and kin are gun grabbers, but their take on it is "you would have to ban all metal, springs and tools" to stop people from home builds.

It's sad that we fear this news. He was a criminal that broke the law. Why should I be punished?

Is that why the lower wasnt connected to the upper shown in the evidence pictures? They had to destroy it and replace it with a 80 percenter they were finishing up.

You can not buy an 80% lower.

There is no such firearm that exists that is called an 80% so **** them. Let's just ban metal ingots and all recycled metal too while we are at it.

seriously though, Calguns makes me feel good about myself because there are WAY bigger drama queens here then myself. ;|

Yee will now try to ban lawful gun owners from 80% builds, which of course will do nothing about would be murderers with a drill press.

Yeah, I swear to a god that I do not believe in, ONE little thing happens and all of a sudden EVERYONE jumps on the BANwagon! (get it? see what I did there?)

It is sad that we have LET this state go this far. Well, not just us, but us and those *******s that voted for these idiotic legislaters.

Hey is it wrong for me to get custom hostage/gunman targets made up with hostage faces similar to our most hated senators? Then I can say that I am training to SAVE them, but I am just a REALLY bad shot...

That is not banned yet right?

Wow you guys are fast. I just heard this on KFI as well.

Well, another whackjob criminal acted out with an AR15, so let's all bend over and take the punishment for him.

That's how it works, right? They commit the crime, and we get the punishment for being law-abiding gun owners.

Guess that explains why we didn't see the rifle on the evidence display table. And probably never will.

And the spare upper? If your milling receivers why not finish the other carbine .. your already carrying a bag that's over 40lbs

Still being reported as a news story on Handle this morning. Eric Leonard has his facts straight, but it all sounds bad (if you were hearing it for the first time and had no idea about how AR builds work).

Notable mentions: 80% lowers, build parties, parts bought online.

All feeding the anti gunners.

Exactly. They can't ban chunks of metal. They will just ban making a firearm at home. It will be a completely useless law, like most of our gun laws. If a criminal wanted to buy an 80% lower and make it, they still could. It would just prevent law abiding citizens from legally building one at home.

Its an 80% without a date stamp. How will they know when you made it? You can also engrave it and Anno with say 9-22-1979 and with serial number, a fake "company" TLC AMRS, Springfield, Ca. How will they know?

Does not make sense. Being able to build as you see fit will not change. Its cheaper for me to buy guns off the "streets" than to build or buy through an FFL. If they are going to make us criminals anyway, might as well do it, its more cost effective.

Because of your potential for committing a similar crime, owning the tools is also a crime--a pre-crime, if you will, since you haven't actually done any harm. This is analogous to a preemptive counterstrike, I suppose. It's a wonder that all US citizens haven't been preemptively incarcerated in work camps by now--for our own safety, of course....

Recently there was a guy who was shot to death by police in Escondido, who had several homemade firearms on him--they were very crude but seemingly more sophisticated than typical zip guns. This seems awfully "convenient," too, given the brouhaha over 3D-printed guns. Maybe someday soon we'll need licenses to buy basic parts from hardware stores, and be subject to random no-knock inspections by the Department of Pre-Crime.

My guess would be that "build parties" would be the most likely thing they will go after from this sort of thing. "Never let a good opportunity go to waste" seems to be the anti's theme these days.....
