Default Century Arms U-Fix-Em Order

So I thought I would take a shot in the dark and order a couple of U-Fix-Em's from Century Arms. I ordered them on May 20th and just got them yesterday. I didn't get any notification that they shipped other than my credit card was charged a week ago. I called them yesterday to find out but their office was closed. About 30 minutes later UPS pulled up with my surprise delivery. Wohoo! I bought the Chinese Type 53 Carbine for $60 and a M95/34 Hungarian Carbine for $70. The Type 53's stock is fairly rough but not cracked. The only thing that I could tell was missing is the cleaning rod and a screw for the top tang. It functions smoothly. The M95/34 looks to be in pretty good condition. I can't see that anything is missing. The bolt is fairly hard to cycle but it all functions. Now I just need to clean the cosmo off. After I take in it's smell for a few days.

I guess my dogs didn't share my enthusiasm of getting more firearms.

I got 2 T53 U-FIX-UMS from Century a couple weeks ago. Missing cleaning rods and a band spring.
Near perfect bore and bluing, stocks a little rough but nothing bad at all.

Pics after clean up...

I ordered 2 more last Friday and just got the tracking # a while ago...

With my luck, they would come without bolts. Also, if you sign up for UPS account (the personal free one), UPS will send a notification to you whenever something is sent using their service. You can then tell them to hold it at the distribution center, so they don't show up and your wife opens the door

I think it said that if you get the 6 pack that they all come with bolts. Thanks for the tip on UPS. I don't have to worry about the wife since she divorced me.

I'd refinish the stock after stripping her down... Doing that to my T53 this weekend... I hope.

If you want a real "original" condition Mosin Nagant (not arsenal refinish bubba job) then just clean in off and leave it as is. If you want to finish it then do so. The T53's are real original condition rifles, not the rearsnal refurb shellcrap jobs like many think are "original". Clean it and maybe hit the wood with some ballistol or mineral oil every now and then if needed. That's what I did. I refinished all my shellcrap versions but the T53's are grained wood all dinged up and purdy

*claws at screen and sobs*

Sometimes it really stinks to not have an 03 C&R

Can I just ask though... Do they still have some of the T53's in stock?

I originally ordered a T53 in good condition but they took forever to update my order. I called them after about a month and they said that they have a lot of the ones with cracked stocks but haven't been finding very many with intact stocks. I'm guessing that they have plenty of the cracked stock and u-fix-ems.

Why don't you have your 03? It's only $30 you know.

Well, I'm 16, so I kinda have awhile to wait till I can get one
Plus I live in Sacramento, and that adds a whole 'nother level of confusion into the mix (FFL's don't like to send guns to Sacramento city. County? No problem. City? No way for some reason).

16 with almost 3.5K post?

On a side note, I just got my 03 in the mail today. It took less than 1.5 months. Oh Yeah, time to register with online sellers.

It took me weeks and several phone calls to get my license on file and my log-in info.

Yes, oh yes it took forever to get in their system. Your best bet is to call.

Century also has a $75.00 min order. That means your forced to buy two.

Has anyone bought a Century "Good" T53 for $129.00? How did it look? I keep looking and debating, wouldn't mind having a T53 that is not totally thrashed.

Hi all.

I'm three for three with being happy with my U-Fix-Ems.

Basically they've been "U clean 'ems" with stock issues.

I got this SKS I "preserved" rather than restored (cleaned her up, shot her, waxed her).

Here's the full size pic: http://highworldtoo.com/stuff/SKS%20...e/leftside.jpg

And then last week I got these two T53s. These are the "before".

Here's the full size pic: http://i.imgur.com/J4kaLND.jpg?1

Those are the "before" pics - the day I got them. I cleaned up one and shot it the next day, and did some stock repair and refinish on the other one and shot it for the first time today - no "after pics" yet.

I'm not sure what I want to try next - probably the Steyr since they're so cheap, but I'm awfully tempted by the TTC and CZ82 pistols.

I called Josh at Century this morning, and as noted in this thread, he was very helpful. I got into the Century system, no problem, and ordered two T53 U FIX 'EMS.

I will post a report and pics when they come in.

Thanks to you all, and PMs did provide the info I needed....

Cool - hope yours work out great. Those two above and one more on the same order for a buddy were all complete with busted stocks. One even had a cleaning rod.

I'll tell you the one downside, though - you have to put on your patience hat when you deal with Century. And that's awfully hard to do when you're getting new toys.

Their whole order system communication is about worthless. They just do things in whatever order. My SKS order never went to completed status. I watched my credit card, though, and the rifles showed up about three days after my credit card was hit (three weeks-ish overall).

Then with the T53s, the order went to completed status in about three days, but then nothing - didn't hit my card, no rifles. I called them after a week of that and they said they'd just shipped that day, so I got a tracking number for that one. (that order only took about 10 days). They didn't charge my card til about two days after I got the rifles. It's a real mess. I don't see how they operate. But I'm awfully glad they do.

If you sign up with UPS "My Choice" as someone noted earlier, you'll at least know when something is about to come to you. You do have to be there to sign for them.

Hope they turn out great!

Basically they've been "U clean 'ems" with stock issues.

I got this SKS I "preserved" rather than restored (cleaned her up, shot her, waxed her).

These are one of the last great deals to be had. At $66 shipped its almost a no lose situation.

So far all I've seen had the bolt. Many are fully complete, when something is missing its usually just the recoil nut or tang screw. Id estimate about 20-30% have a stock crack or gouge, repairable with basic wood skills.

A good gamble esp since the parts are worth more than 60 bucks

Someone on another board I was on called and was told despite the gloom and doom phrasing, they all have bolts.

Take that with all the veracity of "some guy on the internet repeating what some other guy on the internet said".

And I've yet to figure out why they're $60 each or 5 for $500.

My personal stock experience out of three has been one repairable with ground off brass screws near the tang, (top one in the photos above) one with a whacking huge gouge out of the side of it, and the toe nailed on - presumably by a soldier. It's shootable but undesirable. I'll make it into something else (bottom one). And the third had one side of the tang area missing completely - unsafe, unshootable, and unrepairable. Fortunately the guy wanted an ATI stock going in.
