Using the truck hood for a rest, my AR bounced one off the top off the windshield, up in the air, and down the back of my T-shirt.
My "dance" started out as a wiggle, which was a big mistake, because my shirt was tucked in. Right on down into my pants till it stuck between my cheeks!
That's when the dancing started! Couldn't sit for a week.

Humans are competitive by nature, I have this desire to want to grind all ya'll away with a shooting match.

How about: teams, shooting SOMETHING...or a timed five rounds from your MN? Bang the gong at 100 yds...???? Got any ideas, fun and easy?

Made a target: I glued a shell casing (9mm) to a board, bet still stands; I will pay a whopping $5.00 to see someone hit that, no scope. One time one shot...money!!!

Wait, I was just thinking of those guys at the other table. They shoot pretty good, impressive handgun, skeet/MN. Let me rethink my desire.

I don't have a MN, but I have a 7.62 Mauser. I'll try. Iron sights, right?

Are you bringing the gong?

Teams sounds like a great idea. We have two team captains who pick their teams. And we see which team can hit a plate at whatever hundred yards fastest.

I am shooting cast in both my Mosins and Mausers. Loading 10 grains of unique with dacron fill on top and Lee cast 160 grain and 175 grain. NO gas check! Shoots to 50 yards very well but not as accurate at 100 yards. They fly around 1100 to 1200 FPS. I am just at the edge of leading and I am mixing lead to match what would be called hard ball. The 8 mm mauser can blast through 6 one gallon milk jugs full of water and still come out the other side at 50 yards. The first three jugs are exploded and the last 3 just a hole.

This is more of an informal thing, no actual classes of competition. We just come and shoot guns, who cares what ammo you shoot

I have not shot any unchecked cast yet.
Shooting the A3 and M39 with NOE 312299 sized .311 at about 1600fps.
No leading at all

Anyone got a Chrono they can bring ?

I've got a chrony as well. I had it with me last time but no table to stand it on nor anyone looking for one. Let me know. It is always with me in my range bag.

Talked to my dad about it a couple days ago. My folks bought a place up outside of Oroville a couple months ago, and are working on it. Dad is excited to come to the meet. He doesn't know it, but I'm going to give him the Garand I got for him a while ago the Friday evening before the shoot. It will be me, my dad, and my 8 year old son. I'll try to get there early, but Pop doesn't do anything early these days, so he may show up later.

Where: The Oroville public shooting range. It is free and unmanaged (location here: https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-...d=0CJIBEPwSMAM )

When:[/B] Saturday, August 3rd from 6:00-7:00AM to whenever we all leave. (Try to get there really early, the range fills up pretty fast, and then it's cool!)

What:[/B] Primarily C&R's, but bring whatever you want! We all love seeing guns at the range, especially the weird and unusual.

Who:[/B] Anybody who wants to come! Bring your friends and yourself!

Since this is a FREE, and UN-MANAGED shooting range, we have to bring some things that we might take for granted most places.

1. SHADE, anything that can provide shade will be appreciated. It will be August, so expect some heat and sunburns.

2. TABLES, for shooting from and to put the guns on. They have some concrete tables, but they get filled up pretty quick on a good day.

3. COOLERS/ICE CHESTS, to keep your food and drinks cold through the heat.

4. WATER, the Oroville range doesn't have any. Don't forget to buy a couple of flats of water or fill a water cooler and bring cups!

5. CHAIRS, try to have them if possible. It makes shooting INFINITELY more comfortable.

6. TARGETS, they do not provide targets there besides what people left behind, so I suggest that you bring your own paper targets and cardboard stands, or other "reactive" targets, AKA, watermelons, old milk jugs filled with water, you get it. And sometimes like magic tannerite appears. The tannerite gods like this shoot apparently...

7. FOOD, we're gonna be a little different this time: POTLUCK!!!!
Bring what ya want and BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS AND PLATES!!!

8. THE SUN, it is hotter than the pit of hell there, make sure to bring sunscreen, hats, maybe a water mister if you want.

I can't wait to see you all there! If you wanna come just comment below or PM me and I'll add you to the list! And if you want add what you'll be bringing below, we love to talk about it before we see it

1. Surplus-Addict +2
2. Dutch3
3. SVTPete83
4. Lone_Gunman +2
5. Hylander

11. TRAP55
12. meaty-btz

I will be there again.

A booth with a table, a sign in sheet maybe to make sure that everybody comes and to let people know where others are located on the range (it's a big place), and a name tag sheet with markers.
I am going to check with a place I know that makes banners. I am sure that I can get one for about $15.00 for a 18" X 54". It will be my gift.
Now I would like some ideas what to put on it?

Do any of the mods attend these shoots instead of just sitting behind a computer and???
It is too bad that they know so little about what is really happening with the people on the site.
Especially the active one who do stuff other than be a desk jocky, armchair quarterback. Like the ones who are so sure what it takes and what to use when one hunts but have never hunted themselves or killed anything. Or the ones who know exactly what you need for long range shooting but have never shoot past 100 yards.

If you do not hear from me again that will mean I got banned again for pointing out the truth. Either way I will load up some 50bmg cartridges and plan to make the next get-together. They cannot stop me from joining is with the GOOD ACTIVE members.
