Default Change happening for the NV CCW permit

On 05-29-13, NV Governor Sandoval signed into law SB76.

SB76 changes the kinds of firearms you qualify with and are allowed to carry.

Qualify with a handgun and can carry any type of handgun.

This change removes the current semiautomatic firearm and revolver categories.

This change goes into effect on 10-01-2013.

My instructor mentioned this Saturday. In fact he is already treating it like it is law and only requiring qualification with one. It will be October before I see my permit anyway.

I was surprised that you can qualify with any handgun you wish. One guy had a target style .22. Not his carry gun, just to save on ammo.

He's doing it backwards then.... 22 is just as bad, if not worse, than other calibers currently.

Yup, you can shoot a revolver as well so you can have that on your permit. Well worth renting/borrowing one for the qualification.

Another step forward.
It use to be you had to shoot with the firearm for the ccw.
The make, model and SN went onto the permit.

Then it changed that once you passed with a pistol and revolver, you could carry any pistol and revolver

I am glad to see that they once again are making it better for law abiding folks.

Next step (planned for the 2015 legislative session) is "constitutional carry".

I understand this change to mean, qualify with any handgun, carry any handgun.
I qualified with an auto only but will be able to carry a revolver too.
