Default I think I buy to much power scope for my ar

HI...

I just got new Nikon M-223 3 x 12 BDC with Leupold Quick release mouth (2 pc) and my AR(flat top A3) only 16 " with 9 " rail

Do U think this set up it to much power should I go down to 2x8 ?

Do 2 piece mount it to soft to use or get 1 piece scope mouth b/c I will take on / off scope after use and use red dot for close 50 yd

if one piece.(w/ring) mouth which will be good for price around $100 or so which band/model ?

I plan to shoot under 500 but most will be 300 or less most of the time

what will be you set up for less then 300 yd and take on/off scope most of the time

my eye sight is not good that why I think I need more power to see better. I got this set up for right price range that I plan to buy and my LGS have in stock.
didn't have to time to shoot yet , that why should I go back and change it or keep like this

thank
zip

p.s. they (LGS) will not low price for less power. same cost, both New in Box

Might not be the scope.

Keep it you can always turn the power down to 8. And you have more if needed. Leupold mark 2 mount or the american defense mount both are nice but the AD might be a bit more

That scope is fine. If you are going to take it on and off I would recommend the PEPR QD linked below. In general yes a single piece scope base is best imo. If you want to run a red dot also try Primary Arms website they have some nice gear.

Scope isn't too powerful, you just need to shoot further

Nice scope. Try shooting 600 yards.

Scope power is a personal choice. You can always turn the power down on a higher powered scope. You can't turn the power up on a low power scope if it isn't there to begin with. I don't think you've chosen too much power. But then again, I have a Sightron 10-50x60 on one of my AR's and
8-32X's on my other two (one of them is a rimfire).
