Where did you go for the class? I need to do this now! I was thinking about Reno, at the range. Last time I was there shooting some full auto, I was chatting with the guy about the class. I didn't need it as I have AZ, but guess I do now!

Front Sight

As an Ambassador member the four day defensive handgun course and CCW course were part of the membership. Any number of folks on this forum (including me) have memberships for sale if you are interested.

Great news, turned in my app last week and the Sheriff's staff is great in Nye County. Went to Front Sight as well, so hopefully it will be a fast turn around too.

Clark County (LVMPD) is the slowest of all the NV counties.

That makes sense...they also have to process all the casino workers.

Yep.I live in Clark County.2 years ago I did my renewal and it took 50 some odd days.Like the OP did,go through the smaller counties, like Nye(closest to Vegas).Unless you like to people watch,in which case Clark is your best bet. Here, when you go to the po-po shop to turn in your app,you are in the waiting room with a very interesting assortment of humanity.Out here you need some type of card for most service/casino/adult type jobs. Also,in our state all felons are required to register with the sheriff. You'll be waiting with felons of all kinds, strippers, massage parlor girls, casino workers of all job descriptions, sex offenders.Last week I had to go to the Metro station to put in my change of address, and the babe in line in front of me where you get your number was complaining to the lady behind the window that the SCOPE criminal history was rejected by the strip joint where she was applying cuz it was in a format they had never seen before. She also was pissed that the printout listed all of her arrests and juvie record, not just her adult convictions. She had some great T and A though!

And non-casino workers.

Pretty much any job in Clark County involving alcohol, entertainment and/or money requires a Sheriff Work Card. Which LVMPD processes and issues.

No work card = not able to legally work in that particular job field

Reno ( Washoe) instructor for 18 years replying ( not trolling for business- believe this all SHOULD be a 2nd ammendment issue not requiring permits), We offer summer classes in Winnemucca ( Humboldt).

Non-residents must apply in the county where they train so make sure the class location is in that county: Nye, Pershing, Humboldt ( will let you apply before class), Douglas, Carson, Storey all seem to run faster (30-60, sometimes less); Lyon has been holding permits the full 120 days allowed, for years; Reno (Washoe) is currently processing as many apps as Clark with less staff so they are taking 90-120 days. Permits will mail back to any address.

Douglas County was efficient and there were some great looking ladies working the window.

Can you give me an idea of what the OTD cost is going to be including your class and the state? I'd be an initial applicant.
