Default Help finding an Outdoor range

So I've been to Burro Canyon and I really do not like that, there are no range markers, and that wind constantly blows down my targets, no matter how many rocks I use to secure it.

What other options do I have for an outdoor range??

I would like at least 100yrds distance

Hopefully within 45min drive of Los Angeles.

Thanks for your help!!!!

Angeles Shooting Range off Little Tujunga Canyon, or a place to Shoot off San Francisquito Canyon.

...Outdoor = subject to environmental factors, like wind.

I have encountered more wind at Angeles, than Burro.
But those are the environmental factors in the outdoors.
As they say 'weather permitting'.
(Oh, and I guess it's also a little like ... going hunting, if you happen to go hunting.)

He is very right. Checking weather forecast in advanced would be a viable option.

There is also Wes Thompson's range in Piru. Might be further, but there are targets out to 600-800 yards or so and metal targets out to 1000 yds.

LMFAO. I do just fine with 4 rocks. Sounds like you need a rollin tape measure. imo you're not going to beat Burro canyon in the LA area...

Angeles is one of, if not the best public ranges I've ever been to. I'll be there next Sunday. If the OP wants to plink at the little red pig at 600 yards with one of my 50s, shoot me a PM and we can set it up.

I'll go out there too next Sunday, if you bring the cannon.
Actually, I may go anyway.

Some of you may change your minds when you see the price of .50 ammo!

With this much interest, we may as well make a meet and greet out of it. Anyone up for it?

It's not the cost. It's about finding 50 cal Amax, CCI #35 primers and H50BMG.

We should have a Calguns .50BMG range day. Can you imagine the attention our group would get from everyone else at the range?

There will probably be a few of us there with 50s. It isn't as unusual as you seem to think.

Hm, maybe because I usually try to go on weekdays when it's less crowded?

Well, I was there from open to after closing and you never introduced yourself.

I let at least 6 people fire one of my 50s, 50 shooter, EBRWorks and mrkobota probably averaged the same or more. Not one of us asked for or accepted a cent from anyone.

It used to be a monthly happening. Today we had about 8 or 9 different 50s on the line at different times. You knew about it and you didn't show.

I would have made it if I could. As far as the ammo thing and money, I just don't expect people to supply the ammo as they're letting you shoot a rifle that costs a few dollars/pull of the trigger. You guys are a generous bunch, but I would have purchased my own ammo just because I think that's only right.
