Already got the "K", now I'm interested in doing the "D"

Still have a lot to learn. Legalities and such.

then a M76 or PSL to round out the family.

then a nice 74 and AMD just because.

Then divorce, because that chick has problems with addiction!

tagged. awaiting date and location.

perfect timing given my recent pair of boating accidents.

edit: do people typically have some sort of finishing material (cerakote, alumahyde, etc.) or at least paint already at these? if not, i'm guessing high temp engine paint would work?

Got a Polish underfolder ready to go. Was going to build it here at home but figured it's a relatively uncomplicated build so it will be a perfect party build so I can B.S. with everyone afterwards.

Why not set them up regionally. A bunch of smaller parties would be easier to organize than one giant large one. And also less of a circus that way.

No one is doing anything illegal but given the current climate, I would recommend to keep things on the D/L.

You can even setup pre-meetings where CG'ners can vouch for one another and vouch for whomever they would bring. No admittance if you are not on a pre-approved guest list.

Establish a date, but then don't pass out the exact location until the last moment.

With all that said, I would be highly interested if something could be done in the SoCal area.

Considering one of these parties have already been infiltrated, there is reason to not make them free-for-alls.

It's different today than how it was before.

Perhaps, but how are you going to keep a state wide AK builder on the down low?

I think we ought to let the democrats in...if they are all as uninformed (ignorant) as Brian S., maybe they will become felons and not be allowed to vote...just a thought.

Or maybe they will feel the sense of accomplishment in building, have fun shooting their creation, and realize that you can be a law abiding sportsman/ hobbyist without being a danger to anyone.

I have converted many just by taking them to the range one time. Building is like that only better.

Good for you Nicoroshi!! I haven't had any such luck in converting them but I got one at least to the point where they can tolerate a gun within their presents.

Nico, I suppose anything is possible...but reducing the number of "D" voters in this state can't be a bad thing. I don't ride the train, don't need anything given to me, and I prefer to work for and make my own choices...But conversion is a nice idea LOL

I would be interested as well. I built a Romanian several months ago, but I have a Maadi in the garage that needs some love. On a side note, do build parties prefer flats or pre-bents? I have a pre-bent that needs the drill and dremel treatment, but if everyone else is bending flats, I can pick one up just for uniformity's sake.

Has anyone given thought to the possibility of doing our own feature story regarding build parties? I understand that with times being as they are, most would prefer to stay quiet, but it can also be argued that if the only view of things being given to the public is the view from douche-rags like Mother Jones, then it stands to argue that the public will only have that view on which to base their opinions. Just food for thought, but doing a fairly represented feature story might help humanize shooters and builders in the eyes of the uneducated.

Don't tell me that 'X' wouldn't love to hear the squirrels on steroids burning up the pavement again, and don't tell me that you wouldn't love being there for the good times regardless of who attends.

The way I see it this isn't a 'story waiting to happen' for some anti American journalist(s). It's a fun time to enjoy a perfectly legal hobby, and hang with those that are like minded while spreading the knowledge, and the shooting sports to newcomers.

More, and more lately I am getting the same response to my standard question to new builders of, "So.....What lead you to wanting to build an AK?".
The reply is along the lines of fear of losing their freedoms (all of them) due to ineffective pending legislation, and distrust of their elected officials to actually represent what's in their best interest over some Socialist agenda coupled with the love of what our country's founders actually put in place to maintain the freedoms we enjoy (the Constitution, and bill of rights).

Sounds pretty American to me.

I gave up long ago worrying about what people 'think' of me.
Now I am simply true to myself, my family, and my country.
If that damns me then so be it.
