I wouldn't even know where to begin on that rifle.

I've got a guy that wants his PSL built He's going to be the guinea pig. I need to build a barrel press fixture But other then that I think all my AK tooling will work.
So if needed PSL tools will be available for this party if I can get to tool built quick enough.
Then I guess it's HK tooling

Hey Kerry, my experience with the PSLs was that I had to be very careful how I moved the barrel forward from the chamber end. That part of the barrel has a thin protruding ring there unlike the AK. It was a learning experience for me for sure. Having said that, I really like the PSLs and couldn't seem to get enough of them for a while. I'm only going to build one more PSL.

Speaking of PSLs, I happen to have an unissued kit with a new US barrel from prexis.com
Might have to bring it to this build.

I know you are an experienced builder and will end up with a great rifle but man, those PSL builds can have some tricky little surprises!

Yeah i took a good look at this guys kit and he mentioned the detail on the barrel. He's going to loan me his kit and barrel so I can fabricate tooling for it.
I need to make a bass pusher for the barrel with a step in it to clear that detail, A barrel vise and source from the scrap pile a nice long chunk of tubing.

I'm thinking of building a fixture instead of using the press to remove and install the barrel. I've got no shortage of large chunks of steel and 1" all thread.

Need to work on a design..........

He illegally aquired the rifle in CA while he was a resident of Colorado. Knowing that and knowing that he just isn't too bright, I would believe that he moved the mag lock back after he returned to CO with it.

Apexgunparts.com still has kits, prexis.com makes barrels, tennessee guns has or had square back nodakspud receivers which can be modified with a 2 1/8" holesaw to fit the psl stock.

NOPE!!! He "destroyed" the ak but not according to DOJ demilling requirements... Furthering his illegal AK building practices. It is ignorant people like that guy that are dangerous and need to be locked up.

Start putting WTB ads out for a bluejack barrel. Your a day late and a dollar short to that party so I would expect to pay a premium

You missed the days when single females had to drive the long dusty dirt mountain road to my AK build parties in the middle of BFE! Don't worry about attending this BP. There are enough mature experienced builders who will go that you will be protected and respected if a little leg humper should show up.

You really need to get out more. First, yes, he did illegally aquire (by building) a firearm in a state he was not a resident in. Secondly, ATF&E has certain demilling requirements. DOJ doesn't. So, instead of telling me I'm wrong, you might want to do a little research before proving your lack of knowledge by posting incorrect information. BTW, I fully would have supported his right to build a legal firearm in a legal fashion just as much as I support EVERYONE'S legal right to manufacture a legal firearm for any reason that is legal. While I may not like or agree with his intentions, if he had followed the law, I would have no choice but to support his right to legally do something I don't agree with. It's ignorant people who think that rights should only be used in a certain way who are ruining this country.

RPD or RPK? RPK is an AK with a bulged trunnion. RPD is a far more complex project...

I'm trying to figure out where it says it's illegal to build a weapon outside your resident state. Since CA falls back on Federal law as far as manufacturing goes. No transfer was involved so I don't see how it was illegally acquired.
Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I haven't found where it says that it is illegal to build outside of your home state, but this is the regulation that prohibits you from taking it back to your home state after it is made.
478.29 Out-of-State acquisition of firearms by nonlicensees.
No person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, shall transport into or receive in the State where the person resides (or if a corporation or other business entity, where it maintains a place of business) any firearm purchased or otherwise obtained by such person outside that State: Provided, That the provisions of this section:

(a) Shall not preclude any person who lawfully acquires a firearm by bequest or intestate succession in a State other than his State of residence from transporting the firearm into or receiving it in that State, if it is lawful for such person to purchase or possess such firearm in that State,

(b) Shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a rifle or shotgun obtained from a licensed manufacturer, licensed importer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector in a State other than the transferee's State of residence in an over-the-counter transaction at the licensee's premises obtained in conformity with the provisions of 478.96(c) and
