My Pre-Burfday shoot. Buddy brought a camera and captures some of the highlights.

Yes bipods on almost everything. I don't like just laying the weapons down on dirt or dirty tables. Don't shoot with the bipods often unless indoor.

There were 2 AR pistols, one still needs some ergonomic mods to make it easier to shoot

I counted 20 rounds coming out of that AR pistol.

Default Yup

I was legally re-purposing my legal to own 10 round .50 Beowulf mags to shoot some 5.56, then I switched back to shooting .50 Beowulf when my shoulder didn't hurt so bad anymore.

The fact that you own 10 round magazines for your .50 Beowulf is irrelevant with respect to their use in an AR pistol.

I have seen you post about possessing standard 30 round AR mags and if questioned, you advocate replying that they are 10 round mags for your Beo. That is all fine and dandy, possession of high capacity magazines is not a crime. I couldn’t care less that you possess high capacity magazines, nor do I care if you use them in a registered AW or on a featureless rifle.

Let’s review the code.

Quote:
12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon"
shall also mean any of the following:
(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash
suppressor,forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely
encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon
without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses
the barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some
location outside of the pistol grip.
(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the
capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
AR pistols must have a fixed magazine, without a fixed magazine your AR pistol is in violation of 12276.1 A, C, and D. Obviously you are using a fixed magazine as you would not be so foolish as to violate section 4.

You are clearly in violation of section 5. Your argument that you are using a magazine “designed” for .50 Beo has ZERO bearing on the fact that your AR pistol has “the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.”

If there was any confusion in regard to the capacity of the magazine, you have demonstrated it sufficiently by blowing through 20 rounds.

Tell me again how you have not videotaped and distributed your possession of an assault weapon?

Or maybe it was just the jump cuts that caused the 10 round breaks to be cut out.

Really? That's all you got?

I wasn't even going to bring it up, but how about the other rifle you are using with a 20 round mag? Is that a registered AW?

Looks to me like a centerfire, semiautomatic rifle, with a pistol grip and a fixed magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. Happy birthday, btw.

OK, and now it's illegal to use greater than 10 round magazines in rifle builds as well?

FYI there were multiple pistol lowers and rifle lowers (though the pistol uppers were never installed on the rifle lowers and vice versa). And there were several cuts in the video.

If you care that much about legal liability and not "narc'ing out" fellow users, I'd be happy to discuss in PM. Otherwise, what's your point of the *Public* call out?

FYI, the highlight reel here is missing a vast majority of the day of shooting, including the parts where after 2 or 3 rounds, the mags would simply fall out of the mag well of some of the pistol builds, and of the large amount of work done with attempting to adjust the BB's properly to even retain the mags. Or the incidents where polymer blocked mags got stuck in the magwell and needed further disassembly in order to be uninstalled. Due to not wanting to "sweep" the range even with a presumed
empty mag, eventually we had to beg/borrow/alter parts so as to use the metal mags to complete the day shooting. Never mind the embarassing parts where the rail add on accessories were shot until loose and fell off. But that's just the purpose of a highlight reel. You take the best parts of an entire day ant the range and string it together to something resembling fun. Never mind it bore little if any resemblance to the actual day at the range. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a shooter wanting some fond way to remember the range besides my sunburn.

I presume your first question was rhetorical, but while we’re going through the penal code, why not…

Quote:
30515. (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon"
shall also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to
accept a detachable magazine
and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the
action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
Since the rifle in question is centerfire, semiautomatic, has a pistol grip, and has a collapsible stock, I will assume that you have a bullet button or some other form of magazine lock so as to not violate sections A and C. That brings us to…

You have shown yourself shooting 20 rounds. 20 rounds is more than 10 rounds, and that is illegal.

I’ll quote Librarian on this one.

Quote:
* Note: it is not a part of the "large-capacity magazine" law, but part of the 'assault weapon' law that says a semiautomatic, centerfire rifle with a fixed magazine that holds more than 10 rounds is an 'assault weapon'.

That means that
• if your otherwise legal semiautomatic, centerfire rifle has a magazine lock, such as a 'bullet button',
• and you use a "large-capacity magazine" in that weapon, (which, because of the magazine lock is effectively a fixed magazine rifle)
• then you will have manufactured an 'assault weapon'.
That's a felony. Don't do that.
This is not new stuff. All of this has been hashed out and repeated at length on this forum. This is a public forum, you chose to post. Not only that, you chose to record and post a video on youtube.

I don’t believe that you are ignorant of the laws, I believe that you chose to blatantly flaunt them. The only one “narcing” here is yourself, not like I’m going to report you to the DOJ (they do monitor this website though.)

Under your username it says that you are a CGSSA Coordinator. The last thing we need is for people to watch your video and get the wrong idea about the laws and get themselves caught up with an unregistered AW charge. While I’m quoting stuff I might as well remind you of the CGSSA mission statement.

Quote:
CGSSA's functions and goals are to:
· Offer events where members can enjoy both competitive and recreational shooting in a safe and friendly environment.
· Introduce the shooting sports, firearms hobbies, safety, skills, and legal ownership to those interested but unfamiliar with firearms.
· Support, enhance, and defend our Second Amendment rights through grassroots advocacy.
· Be of service to our fellow enthusiasts and the firearms/shooting sports community throughout California.
You are doing a disservice to our community when you post videos like this.

If you would like to do more reading on the AW laws, I'll refer you to the wiki.

http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Po...ult_weapons%22.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=387409

I would suggest that you remove the video from youtube. I'll be glad to edit my posts.

I apologize for being a hardass, but I don't see this stuff as a laughing matter and do not want to see you get popped for doing something stupid, nor do I want to see you encouraging others to act unwisely.

Wow, you would think a grown man would politely discuss certain things in private if he has some questions or issues pertaining to this matter.

Why the need to try and call out your fellow CalGunner publicly without first trying things through PMs??

How about doing everyone here a favor and editing/deleting your posts "blkA4alb".

I reiterate that this is a highlight reel compiled from mutliple firearms and magazines that does not show the actual period between firing. Any assumptions you make about when the reloading happened is up to you. I encourage no-one to break the law or flaunt such activity openly. It's not my video, I'm obviously the shooter and not the cameraman / editor / uploader.

That being said, for the second and final time I request any legal issues you may have with the video to be discussed PM. (Unless you're law enforcement, at which time I'll just decline to discuss anything with you unless I have a lawyer present)

If you refuse to do so I'll just have to ignore you from now on.

I agree with blk. It only takes one to ruin it for others. If everything were legal like you stated in the video why take it down?
