Thx, but I'm not hunting bin laden. Iron sights are good enough but a simple optic for the range is better

For the money Aimpoint Pro, Eotech 512, or Primary Arms Micro Dot with AR Riser. (Aimpoint T1 copy)

Oh, you can use any of the above to hunt for bin landen and it won't break your wallet. Good luck finding him.

What I am getting at is without knowing what you are trying to accomplish its not really objectively possible to make a good recommendation.

Red dots and ARs are obviously very popular, so that's what the majority here are chiming in with (can't help but think it is suspect that not one offered why, which means they are probably simply telling us what they actually own and nothing else) but for just punching paper, not my first pick. A little birding actually. If you are moving or the target is moving and we are talking close range, then reflex sights rule the school. Even if its just soda cans that move a lil bit when you hit so you have to adjust your aim a bit.

On the other hand, if all youre going to do is sit on a bench and punch paper, well irons or a more traditional magnified optic make more sense.

Nice....Congrats!!! If you don't mind my asking, how much was it?

I would also recommend looking at Aimpoint H1..small footprint and lighter since piston guns are heavier already.

And give us a range report when you can.

You asked for the "Best" and that is what people are recommending. It might help if you told us your budget and what it is you want to achieve with your optics choice. Otherwise, you will get recommendations all over the place.

Looking for a decent red dot with a flip side magnifyer. Would like to stay south of 700 all told. Primarily for range use.

A big fan of Primary Arm Red Dots. Similar to Aimpoint H1 but $$$$ cheaper.

https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...se_p/md-06.htm

or for longer range:

Got both, if you want to demo them.

Vortex and Primary Arms both make nice magnifiers that will fit your budget after your EOTech purchase.

I've used both with an EOTech and the PA with an Aimpoint, couldn't differentiate between them honestly
