Default New Walther PPK/S in .22LR

Walther has announce the production of a PPK/S in 22LR. Wants. Is their any possibility that the gun could eventually find it's way through the Cali Tofu Curtain? Could the gun be grandfathered through prior years production, for example?

Thanx!

Grandfathered? No. Personally I doubt Walther will try to get the pistol on the approved list, but I could be wrong. So until then, SSE or inter-transfer will be your only avenue. If them Dems have their way, you'll have until December 31st to make your move.

Because it is a semi-auto rimfire pistol it needs a "magazine disconnect mechanism" in order to be eligible for testing to be placed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale. [PC 32010(d)(3)]

I'm fairly certain that SSE will be problematic ... don't PPK's and derivatives have a barrel that is a single piece with the frame?

Yes. The barrel is fixed to the frame.

Thought so. I used to have an Erma-Werke PPK/S in .22 LR. Nifty little gun. Wouldn't mind having it back again ...

Aw, well, frack. It always was a faint hope. Guess I'm going to have to wait until I leave this Non-Worker's Paradise.

Thanks!

The barrel on a PP Series pistol is removable. It is held in place by interference fit and a cross pin. To remove it correctly you need a jack like tool to press it out to the rear after the pin is driven out. Not something you want to do weekly but definitely possible.

The Walther PPK/S.22 has a threaded barrel, which makes it an assault weapon under CA laws.

Proofmarks also indicates that it is made at the Umarex facility (which makes the Walther P-22, S&W M&P-22, IWI Uzi.22, H&K HK416.22, H&K MP-5.22).

The standard Umarex spanner wrench is used to remove the muzzle cap on the threaded barrel and noise suppressor adapters for the other Umarex .22LR pistols (Walther P-22, S&W M&P-22) can be used on it.
