First and foremost, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of you dad's out there.

Quick update folks: The factory pulled our first lot of 200 lowers in QC due to a broaching measurement out of spec. They are working overtime to correct the first 96 and get them shipped out early this week. The factory and I are airing in the lowers from SC so that they will be here in time for this weekend's build party.

A quick note to all of those attending the TR Only BP this weekend. We may need to meet offsite the morning of the machining to hand deliver the lowers. Per our current understanding about the rules, I cannot allow lowers to be picked up on site then finished the same day. I know it sounds strange, but I am just following good councel.

I will post a quick note when I have the tracking number. I am getting excited folks. The new lowers are rolling out this week.

Have a great night.

Hi Moose. Not yet sir. I have been trying to get through all of the PM's. I have 36 left to get to, plus about 20 more emails.

I have pics to send you and the pricing on your project. Can you please give me a call or text me? I saved another members number under your name.

******

308 Update.
The guys at TR test fired their new 308 lower and upper assembly last week. They finalized and approved the design. They are now waiting for the custom hardware (pins) that will be shipped with each lower. Once they have a firm arrival date on those, they will release all of the details of the 308's to me. I will then start a new group buy dedicated to the 308 platform. I will be offering a nice assortment of 308 hardware.

Ok, back to the PM's. Thanks again everyone. The guys are very excited about such a fantastic response from all of us here at CG.

Have a great night.

Charlie

Will the 308 lower be 7075 t6?

Also what about the tg? will it be like the dpms style?

The current ar15 lower tg is kinda of like pof's (which i own and like), the slant and then the sudden tear drop shape is kind of an odd look.

But it's a good deal. I'm looking forward of the look of the 308 and possibly interested.

Hi Charlie,

So from what I have read a normal Jig will not work for this design. We would have to modify a jig or machine at your shop? I am just concerned because i would be going to a local CNC shop for the machining. If they cannot do it then I guess I am not going to be able to participate.

Ok folks.

I have to ask that you please start paying a little attention to my update posts of the first post of the thread before you start asking who has theirs and stating that you thought that you were in group 1. I am getting about 20 PM's per day that are from people that have not ready any of the thread posts.

Please try to help me out here. I only have a limited amount of time per day to respond to PM's and these are a killer.

Here is a copy of the text from post #244:

I will have more info soon folks. Just no that NO ONE has any of these lowers in hand yet as none have shipped. ALSO, for those of you that have higher invoice numbers, your lowers will ship later than those with lower order numbers. I am shipping orders in the order that they were received unless there are added services such as engraving and anodizing. In those cases, your lowers get pulled from the first lot, but go through their additional processes before shipping. You will still get your lowers from the same first lot.
I am the one who asked them to split the order so that we could get parts shipping asap. However, this seems to have caused an issue with people thinking that others now are cutting in line because of the BP this weekend.

Would it simply be better for you guys to have the factory hold the entire lot of lowers to ship at once? Please chime in asap. I really do want to know if that's what you guys prefer. Otherwise the lowers are shipping in 96 pcs. lots so that they ship as quickly as possible.

The OP is being re-updated now.
Thanks,
Charlie

I personally think that shipping in 96 piece allotments is great, I just want to make sure I have something to work on at the BP this weekend. I think people are just getting really excited to see their final product, patience is a virtue!

Your right, I don't think my PP reciept says anythng about group 1, 2 or 47. It says expect shipping on June 15th..

I didn't read all the post on here. I thought you already had a build party last week, that's the reason I asked.

And for the OP- if you could put dates next to the updates (as you add an update) in the first page that may be helpful to everybody reading along, to help keep track of a timeline of updates. Just a helpful suggestion, do with it what you wish.

Thank you

I would say any GOOD Cnc shop should be able to do them. Like AS&T, he will actually measure em out and make adjustments to make sure that his machine is setup to cut em right before just slappin them in and starting it up.

Hi Guys,

Sorry it taking so long to keep up with the PM's and thread posts. We are definitely up to over 100 messages per day.

Knowyourrights,
I am already looking for a shop for another group buy member in the Fresno area. I will advise asap. AS&T is in Orange County.

If you do buy a jig, then most any shop can do the machining. The problem is that if they don't already work with 80% lowers, then they will have to write the program for the completion of the lower and that takes time and money.

AR-WG,

I have never seen the 80% arms jig. If they have a flared magwell billet too, then it should be close. Most other mfg's jigs will take a little modification to fit another mfg's lowers. The mods are usually minor for someone who already has a cnc machine or mill.

VA Farms,

Great Idea sir. I will do that now. Thanks for the help. I am open to suggestions as to how to help everyone keep up to date easier.

********* UPDATE ***********

The first 100 lowers for Group 1 are leaving the factory today and shipping via FedEx two day air so that they arrive here on Friday morning. I am then taking a portion of those lowers over to the plater to be anodized and picked up that afternoon. It is going to be completely insane to squeeze that all in, but I am up for it. Then I need to sort out the build party vs non build party orders so that I don't ship out of order.

Anyone who is attending the BP is likely going to have to meet me Friday afternoon or evening at my cable shop (not the machine shop) or even Saturday morning before you head over to the machine shop. At this point there is no way for me to ship them in time for you go be down here on Saturday and finish them.

The next lot of 100 pcs. should be shipping by Monday, then another 100 by Thursday and so on. I will keep updates coming as I receive them. I also got a picture of our very first lower that was approved by QC. Here she is:

Thanks again for your patience folks.

Charlie

The OP has been updated with current Group one shipping info and a pic of the very first Gen 2 lower off of the line.

Thanks again folks. I am off to client meetings now. I will be back to check the threads and PM's for short periods today. Then I should be able to catch up again tonight.

Have a great day people!

Sorry, forgot to address the 308 quiries...

The 308 platform was recently tested and came through with flying colors. The guys are waiting on the LPK's and custom pins to arrive before releasing the info to the public. You know me, I will not wait that long. I will get that info very soon. I will do another pre release buy asap. Their plan is to sell the lowers with LPK's since they are so hard to find right now. I do believe the 308 lowers will be 6061 alloy aluminum as well.

I will be back with more info as soon as possible.

Yes sir. At least I can post here from my phone while out of the office.

Do you want me to run your four lowers over for Ano when I am done engraving or are did you get a hold of the lower cost plater? My guy is still $42.50 each for type III hardcoat on a stripped lower

Thanks again,
Charlie

Charlie,
Regarding design for th 80% 308 will it look just like the 80% 223 that is currentley part of the group 2 buy? Also what pattern will it be? DPMS? Armalite? SR25?

Is the deep etching for logo and text deep enough that (for the raw aluminum lower) the lettering will still be visible after a Cerakote job?

Good morning CalGuns!

Captain Chaos here. I just posted a tidbit of good news on the OP. Here's a copy:
UPDATE 6/20/13: The first lot of lowers has left the factory and is enroute. I am waiting for the tracking # to confirm, but they should be here by 3:30 pm today. I need to sort my order spreadsheet and advise the cutoff invoice # for this lot. I will do that this afternoon. I will also have the ship date for the next lot by tomorrow afternoon. I will post that date asap. Thanks everyone for your patience. Your wait is almost over. As more PM's and orders are coming in than I have been able to reply to each evening, I am still a bit behind. I am pulling an all nighter tonight to do engraving and process orders, payments and PM's. I will make sure that all orders are processed in the order that they were received so that my delay in processing will not result in a delay of your delivery.

Here are a couple of quick answers since I am here:

AsianAnts - Got it. Your badge is getting engraved tonight. Due to the custom additions, I will want to text you a sample engraving just to confirm before marking your lower.

Mobius - Yes, as a matter of fact, here are a couple of pictures. Now folks, I am doing this knowing I am risking total chaos... please don't start hammering me for 308 requests. As I am so slammed right now, I will ignore all of them for now since that info will have its own thread very soon. Ok, now for a couple of pics from the test range:

Alright guys. I have to go for now. I will check in later today.

Don't forget 86 lowers arrive today. I apologize that these are shipping later than expected. I would have pushed the guys at the factory harder, but I didn't want to risk receiving sub standard parts. As it is, I had them ship the lowers without having the rear take down detent hole threaded to save another day. I am going to be staying up tonight getting them done so that the first ano orders can get over to the shop and the raw ones can ship.

Have a great day!
Charlie
