I'm not looking to crap on this WTS thread but i hate to see any calgunners misinformed or misled. The gun appears to be in very-good condition and very fairly priced but its hard to tell without seeing barrel muzzle end and the rails.

No SiG P229 was ever marked "MADE IN GERMANY" because ALL P229's have slides milled out of solid bar stock here in the US. For the first several years of production, all American milled SiG recievers were mounted on German made frames. For the last several years that has not been the case...as the entire weapon is made here.

Only guns with BOTH the slide and frame should be considered and advertised as "MADE IN GERMANY".

The first three numbers of the serial number would be helpful to determine when their gun was made. Early mfg P229's are considered more desirable due to the 1) German made frame and 2) perception of superior quality control with the American mfg if made prior to the current CEO Cohen's arrival at SiG after running Kimber quality control into the ground.

So then would a Blackwater P226 with a German made frame be more desirable in both Blackwater tactical and Blackwater USA models? I know the frames were both made in Germany and Exeter ....

Since this keeps the sellers ad bumped to the top I will comment....

I personally don't think that there is any difference in the frames German versus American until recent years under the Cohen regime at Sig. Cohen was responsible for SiG's movement to use of MIM parts in the manufacturing process...just like when he was at Kimber.

That's my opinion but.. While I own 11 SiG's, they are all entirely German made guns....P220's, P6/P225', P226's and P228's. I suppose I will eventually buy an american made SiG... but for the most part, I'm firmly "old school".

All things being equal (wear/round count/accessories), I would opt for a German frame as that would be a earlier example of the model.
