Default SAVAGE B-MAG AVAILABILITY (NEW 17 WSM CARTRIDGE & RIFLE)

I've talked to Savage, Savage Sales Rep's and Retail stores and still nothing definite in fact so many different statements from end of the month to possibly this fall.

Has anyone here heard anything substantial, same thing goes with the Winchester Ammo.

Who knows and does anyone care??

Some info/opinions here: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...play.php?f=271

To answer your question, if you contacted Savage and they don't know then I doubt there is better info. Seems lots of folks are interested in this new Magnum, time will tell how many actually buy it. It may end up like the 5mm rimfire, great round but little interest. No one makes a rifle in that caliber now.

I have a Savage B mag rifle on order with my dealer, and what I have heard is mid to late summer the rifles and ammo will start shipping.

The ammo is ready to go now but they are holding it, for obvious reasons, until the rifles are released. They don't want *** clowns buying it all and than putting on gunbroker for twice the price, and screwing the people who own and have interest in shooting a 17 WSM.

Dick's Sporting Goods latest flyer shows them for sale.
I'll wait until somebody else gets them plus I want a bull barrel on mine.

Any word on this yet? I'm thinking about getting one.

Hope my buddy got unlucky and shot a bad sample from Savage. He said it was an utter POS. Much worse build than the Axis when it came out. Tight bolt and everything else rattled. Some of the brass had split cases before and after firing (but that may be isolated to ammo not just the rifle).

Looks great on paper though. Hope it lasts or at least leads to newer, better innovation.

Reading the American Rifleman review it sounds like the bolt requires twenty pounds of force to close. Which is required for the needed heavy rime strike needed.

Says "The bolt's a little stiff." Looked like he couldn't open it on the last round.Or didn't want to show how hard it was.

Says "This is probably a prototype press gun." Those are usually gone over to work flawlessly.I'm going to wait and see on this one.
