First time poster! Will this be offered later in the summer? I will be out of state and have been looking at taking a basic pistol course prior to purchasing one of my own.

I'm in - email sent!

Loved the open range day with Rich, he ran it very professionally and safely, but still made it fun. Stuff you just can't do at the public range line like holster draw, controlled rapid fire and multiple targets. If at all like last time, he had great advice for improvement specific to each shooter there whatever their level. Am looking forward to this course.

For those CGers who take these courses, please report back. I've got too many conflicts scheduling-wise to make this, but definitely am interested in future events.

I enjoyed the courses today, thanks Rich (and GhostMaker)! For those asking for a report, morning rifle was very small class - almost like a private lesson. Some handling skills lessons then quite a few drills that included different positions, use of cover and movement. Pistols class was big, close to 20 I think. The drills were 'simpler' since most things you did directly in front of your own target, but you did have movement and different positions. Both classes there was generally a little time at the end to light it up with self directed fire (supervised), letting ammo fly at a quantity and speed of your own choosing.

The marksmanship of most was generally pretty good, I think for many it was a great introduction to defensive shooting from a holster, and for others just a great way to get some practice/skills enhancement//rangetime in with holster/movement.

For whoever is interested,
The class was alot of fun! For starters, this was a basic class, as advertised. We started out with basic safety and then moved on to basic un-holstering and firing drills. From there we incorporated shooting/reloading behind cover, and leaning around cover. We also did a little "fight from the ground" with a scenario that you got knocked down and your pistol is out of reach. We ended the day with a little free shooting with various guns provided to see what worked best for us.
The instructor and his assistant were good solid teachers and clear on what they wanted us to do. And didn't make you feel stupid for F-ing up.
I definitely would take this same class again. I am also interested in other classes from the same teacher. And also intermediate classes if available.

Besides all the pros that cz just said, I thought there should have been a bit more explaining of basic things like how to draw correctly from the holster and details like that. But then again... The class was only like 4 and a half hours. And we did cover a lot of things.
