Default How to sell my used guns to out-of-state buyers

How does one sell their used guns from California to out-of-state buyers? Is there a link that describes this process?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Gilbert

I'm not sure of a link, but I basically did what rromeo mentioned.
The following is what I do for handguns.

1) Obtain funds and FFL (or FFL license number) from buyer.

2) Checked FFL license with the ATF website to make sure it was legit.

3) Packaged it and sent it off via Fed Ex (Fed Ex is what I use) to the address listed on the FFL license/ATF web site. Tell them your shipping a gun. Tracking number will be given to you.

4) If your not sure of some other state rules/regs contact the FFL via e-mail and ask. I would ask the buyer 2nd. This way you have a documented response rather than a phone conversation.

I've also done this to ship guns to gunsmiths in other states.

Good Luck!!

If you're selling a pistol it has to be over night shipped with UPS or FedEx...

Unless you're an FFL or have an FFL that will ship it for you (which can be done via USPS and is a lot cheaper)

Its cheaper and easier to give them to a FFL to ship.

Some FFLs refuse or charge more to receive guns from non-FFL's.

How about just keeping them in California?
