Default FMK Polymer lower ***New and Improved***

Ok, let's try this again. Received the new and improved FMK lower in the mail yesterday. It was a replacement for the lower that failed on me two weeks ago. They have made some changes:

They changed the name to the AR-1 Extreme instead of Patriot.

The problems with the out of spec holes seem to have been fixed. Take down pins and detent holes all fixed now.

They have added material and beefed up the area around the rear take down pin. The area that seems to fail a lot.

The look and feel of the polymer has changed. They must have used a new formula.

They changed the graphics on the left and right side mag wells.

Thanks for posting the pics back up. I love a company that understands they have a problem addresses it fixes it and keeps pushing forward. With that said, their molding looks like crap, look at the inside around the rear pin and around the buffertube, yuck. but as long as it hold up who cares.

Now get some rounds through that thing and report back........

No offense, I've seen Airsoft receivers made better than that with more attention to detail. As long as it shoots and at a proper price point, I'm all for it. Thanks OP for the update

Where exactly did they reinforce the receiver?

Was this receiver yours from the earlier post?

Still wont buy polymer. I don't like the idea of putting metal into plastic.

The first lower failed while shooting. Broke in 5 rounds. This is the replacement from fmk. They added those "fins" just over the rear take down pins. Overall the area above and around the rear take down pin is thicker. Not sure if this solves the problem. I really think the biggest problem was the polymer they used. Very brittle. It just failed. Even the bolt release pin holes cracked from installation. The bolt hole for the pistol grip even cracked. Tightened it with just the short handle of the Allen key. I own a glock, and I can tell you the polymer on the original lower was not nothing like the polymer used on the glock. My best guess is they used a crappy polymer formula. Other polymer lowers seemed to have faired better than the fmk. I hoping they got it right the second time with this new lower. It's gonna be a month before it is assembled and I can test fire it. I will post updates.

I agree....a buffer banging against plastic? Seen one at Riflegear that had plastic LPK. Even the guy behind the counter said he wouldn't buy....but a couple VNese guys thought they were great. Especially the price. Offered to sell them mine and they looked confused.
Plastic hammer????? I just don't get it

The Cav Arms Polymer Receivers worked

Why...because the stock was integrated into the design

You can not expect plastic threads to hold up

So the new FMK lower has been assembled and test fired. About 200 rounds total. No signs of failure. No cracks. Seems to be holding up just fine. Maybe this thing will actually hold up. Only time will tell now.
