Exclamation Rescue some guns May 4th at the LA gun buyback!

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is offering people a $200 Ralph's gift card for "assault weapons" and a $100 Ralph's gift card for rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/l...,4860016.story

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Police Chief Charlie Beck said the buyback will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at:

Central Los Angeles — LAPD Northeast Area
LAFD Fire Academy
Frank Hotchkins Training Academy
1700 Stadium Way
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Valley — LAPD Van Nuys Area
Van Nuys Masonic Building Assoc.
14750 Sherman Way
Van Nuys, CA 91405

South Los Angeles — LAPD 77th Area
Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church
7900 South Western Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90047

South Los Angeles — LAPD Harbor Area
Park & Ride Parking Lot
1300 West Pacific Coast Highway
Wilmington, CA 90744

We can show up and offer these people around $50 over the buyback price in cash as an effort to save some firearms from being destroyed.

Here's a clip that shows the strategy used to intervene a gun buyback

**As with any PPT, always arrange to meet up at an FFL (C&R long guns are the only exception). It is helpful to bring a sign stating your intentions and price offers, wouldn't hurt to bring some food and drink to attract potential sellers and draw more attention to your signs. Be safe and respectful like always.

I was planning on atending the gun show that day in ontario. Have you guys ever been to these gun buyback programs and got good deals. Also which location will you guys be attending if you do attend. So hard to make up my mind. Should i attend the gun show or buyback. Gun show will definately be more entertaining than standing outside all day trying to buy elderly folks guns. But the buyback nite have better deals than the gun show.

This will be my first time attending the buyback, my thread in general discussion had a couple people that have attended beforehand. If your set on looking for ammo and accessories then definitely go to the gun show.

If your'e willing to send a message and trying to save expensive or historic guns from getting destroyed then the buyback will be your huckleberry.

Here's an album from the December buyback showing the kind of guns that show up at these events.

I have some airsoft guns that I might be trade in for a $200 gift card since someone turned in a "Trainer" rocket launcher last time.

The stuff in the barrels doesn't match with the stuff on the table. They all look like they're asking each other which one they're taking home.

i had an unsuccessful outing to attempt to talk to anyone at the event. the location in Wilmington wasn't good for what i wanted to do. stayed for about 1.5 hours and saw over a dozen cars pull in but couldn't get close enough to talk to the people.

Very light traffic at van nuys location. I got rid of old broken handgun and 22 rifle with worn out barrel for $200 in gift cards in les than 10 minutes. The leos said no line all morning.

I watched the youtube link. Competing with the buyback seems like a good idea. Anyone up for trying at one of the next ones? Funny thing is I didn't hear anything about the turn out of this one on the news...hmmm.

Did this work out? I was curious about doing this too but figured the cops would run us off.

I'd love to try and rescue some nice guns next time if I'm available. And heck, maybe even offload my CF-380, as no one seems to want to give me $100 for it anyway. I had someone offer me $100 for it, but then wanted me to either pay his fees, or sell it to him cash, "under the table".
