Since Nevada no longer recognizes my Arizona permit, I need to get one. I'm planning on being there May 23rd & 24th. Can anyone recommend a place where I can take a class on Thursday the 23rd and drop off the application on the 24th?

Thanks for the quick reply. Guess I should have specified Las Vegas. Looks like your guy is in the Reno area.

I did mine with Kurt at team digit. He works out of his house and was very accommodating to my schedule. Did 4 hours one evening after a conference and finished up the next day with time to get to the sheriffs office.
As a plus he will let you shoot his fully auto Mac for just the cost of ammo. http://www.teamdigit.com (702) 580-2781 I had a great experience. Used his certificate to get my AZ permit. |

I did my last renewal training with him (4 years ago). Went with him because he can set up a (1-4 person) training class that will fit your schedule. Most other places (The Gun Store, American Shooters, etc) have set schedules on certain days of the week, so you have to work around their schedule. He is an excellent instructor and I highly recommend him. Bonus that he lets you run a few magazines through his MG as part of the class. |

Talk to these guys: http://www.armedandsafe.com/
I took one of their "earlybird" classes. You start at 6am, get out in time to drop off the application the same day....

That is great, hope you enjoy it. It took me a full a 60 days to get my permit, but the process was great, everyone at the sheriffs department was very friendly and professional.

I have a CA CCW and need to get a NV CCW. Since I have completed the training requirement as well as the background and LiveScan for my county in CA do I have to start all over again with NV? I understand the classes and the county background check but to do the LiveScan and wait months is what I'm trying to avoid. Anyone been through the process since AZ was not acceptable?

1. Complete an approved NV CCW course in NV. 2. Submit your application in person to the Sheriff of the county you took the NV CCW course in. 3. Wait for approval/permit to arrive in the mail. |

Do they submit to FBI and DOJ again for clearance since I already was cleared by them with my LiveScan? These days getting clearance from these agencies is taking months.

You could have been arrested after, the last time you were live scanned. Hence the reason why you get run every time you apply and renew. This is standard for all agencies through out the USA. Once you submit your application and get live scanned & photographed, the county sheriff has up to 120 days to process your application. For non-residents of NV, they typically take about 100-120 days to get approved.

I asked Placer county about their renewal process and they told me that they did not LiveScan again and that it was pretty automatic on renewals, just submit the class completition certificate and it would go really quick for the renewal. I was concerned about having to go for renewal 6 months in advance due to how long it took for the initial CCW. I was told I could come in the day before renewal and it would be processed within 30 days and during that time there was a 30 day grace period.

Took the class from Kurt last Thursday (5/23) from Kurt at:
http://www.teamdigit.com/. I was the only one there but he will accommodate up to 4 at a time. Very informative instruction - he will concentrate on the area(s) you have the most questions about. It seemed a little tedious at times but he is required to touch on areas that anyone who has a current LTC from another state would already have down cold. One thing I found interesting: In Ca, you are allowed to carry concealed at home, and at work without a permit - not so in Nevada. You need the permit in order to carry in those places. Went to the fingerprinting station at 08:00 sharp on Friday and was out the door by 08:30! No kidding that fast - they had just installed a new computer system the previous Monday. Now just the wait remains. Was able to beat the traffic out of town before the Memorial Day rush. The inbound traffic to LV was bad starting at about 10:00. Now I remember why I stay at home during the major holidays.
