Does anyone know the difference between the older M77 Mark II and the M77 Hawkeye?
I've been looking to buy a bolt-action for a while now and found an older Mark II (stainless bolt, solid wood stock, 22" barrel) for $550 used with a cheap scope.
Debating whether to buy it or spend more on a Hawkeye.
Looking to target shoot out to 500 yards with it. Have no plans to hunt, though that may change.
Also, is there any advantage to shooting 30-06 over .308? I've been finding a lot of 30-06 rifles selling for cheaper than their .308 counterparts. Curious if the cost savings is because of an inherent disadvantage of the round.
