Default AZ C&R FFL any good in CA?

Is my C&R 03 FFL any good in CA if I happened to drive into the state and find something I like?

I am an Arizona resident and live in AZ 100% of the time.

You would need a California "Certificate of Eligibility" also to be able to "cash and carry" thru a dealer.

I believe, but am not certain, that you would be ine on a C&R long gun that is 50 years old, but even C&R handguns are required to go thru a dealer.

Send a private message to "Librarian" for the most accurate info.

Not in person...

But a Ca FFL could send you a C&R firearm to your address in AZ once he has a copy of your C&R FFL.

Robidouxs is one of our long time members who recently moved to AZ to stay. Good to hear from you Robidouxs.

BTW -- Ron-Solo, I don't think Librarian has PMs turned on. I think he was getting too many PMs. But, he'll come along and have an answer.

CA has a waiting period for any handgun, even C&R. So if you see a C&R handgun that you like (even off roster! http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=288602), you can pay for it, wait the 10 days, then take it home. C&R long guns are cash and carry but I think that ends in 2014.

A COE only lets you buy more than 1 handgun in 30 days - although DOJ claims that this is only for C&R handguns, which is BS. There is no other magic: http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Ce...of_Eligibility

With apologies -- A CA resident can buy a C&R handgun -- and with a both a C&R FFL plus a COE take possession right away (through a dealer). I've bought this way; and PPT'ed to another CGNer with documents. That's the real reason one gets a COE.

" Exception to the 10 day waiting period

Holders of a C&R License and a COE are exempt from the 10 day wait requirement for all C&R firearms. However, many FFLs are not aware of this 10 day wait exemption...

COE is basically a pre-background check - apply with Certificate of Eligibility (COE) Application and Live Scan Request Form (http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/coeapp.pdf). More info here: http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...of_Eligibility "

I'm on my phone right now so I don't have my links.

An 03 C&R FFL holder from a different state can come to CA and buy firearms from both FFL holders and non-FFL holders.

If buying from an 01/07 FFL CA law exempts nonresident 03 C&R FFL holders from the CA DROS requirements.

Federal Law allows 03 C&R FFL holders to travel to different states and buy C&R firearms so long as all local laws are followed.

So, that means that if buying from another C&R or non-licensee they can only buy C&R long guns that are 50 years old or older.

I"m pretty sure you can cash-and-carry C&R firearms in CA with an AZ 03FFL.
27115. Article 1 (commencing with Section 26700) and Article 2
(commencing with Section 26800) do not apply to the sale, delivery,
or transfer of unloaded firearms by a dealer to a person who resides
outside this state and is licensed pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing
with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the
regulations issued pursuant thereto.
the following portions of Article 2 do not apply;
26815 means no 10-day wait.
26840 means no HSC needed.
26845 means no need to prove CA residency.
26850 means roster doesn't apply (which it already doesnt for a C&R handgun)
26853-59 means no HSD needed.
26905 means no DROS.

Littlejake,

Thanks for the update. I found the thread after I posted but was waiting for confirmation that this was still true in 2013. Good to know!
