Cuyama 1,000 yard match- what a day!
We had 10 shooters show up to shoot 2x20 at 1,000 yards today at Cuyama, 6 F class and 4 sling shooters. The morning was cool and just a slight 1/2 minute wind from right in our face or dead right along the range.
The winds picked up through out the match and by the time that the second relay was shooting their last 20 rounds the winds were really tough. We had one of the number boards get the nails ripped out of it and fold over during the relay. The flags were pointing full value left, then dropping to zero and then full value away in the next second. We had target paper getting blown off the backers and you couldn't bring the target frames down without holding on tight. There were a lot of "X-Ring to Dirt-Ring" shots.
Anyway, it was a fun learning experience and it was good to see two full relays of shooters out there enjoying the match.
