Default CA Related Political Discussion

This was posted in the Off Topic version of the 'Election Forum Going Away' thread:

Quote:
What about issues of a political nature that are California specific, such as the recent Propositions and their future effect, taxation and/ fees, issues with legislation and our legislators in Sacramento, if kept civil.

One of my wishes but one that I know is outside the scope of Calguns is a California specific political section...if again it could be kept somewhat civil.
This got me thinking that while it is indeed outside the scope of Calguns.net, political discussions here are normally limited to 2a related issues, it is also something that is lacking for our State.

Politics, as much as we'd rather it were not true, are a part of life and can not be ignored. There are many political topics that need or simply want to be addressed and/or discussed. But how do we do so without bringing that division to Calguns?

In thinking about it the thought I had was what if we had a section that was completely separate for discussion of general CA politics not just 2A related politics. Unfortunately this is not feasible in a real way with any forum software. we can create hidden forums and such but the division will still be part of Calguns and the community.

So, if we can't have a separate section why not have a separate forum?
Somewhere where discussion can be a bit more ranging and diverse, still civil with no profanity or pornography of course but with a little less of the family/workplace friendly requirements that Calguns maintains.

To this end I have set up http://www.cal-politics.net/forum/index.php with the goal of it establishing itself as a place to discuss CA politics in all varieties.
Cal-politics is not moderated by the CGN Staff however as time progresses there will be Moderators to maintain the basic rules of civility chosen from the membership of the forum.

I have enough on my hands running CGN I'm not really interested in spending a lot of time managing CPN so I'm hoping if enough people are interested in discussing general CA politics they will do so and take an active hand in keeping it civil and fair.
To put it simply I want to be somewhat hands off so people from all ideologies can step in and provide balance.

If no one uses it, well I already had the hosting account and it only cost 25 bucks to register the domains.

While that is a wonderful idea, I just hope it doesn't become an off topic forum on steroids.

How could it not?

The government can only push us law abiding, tax paying, god fearing, gun toting citizens so far before we have finally had enough. We're the majority and it's time to start acting like it. And not take it anymore.

It's time to make 2013 the new 1776. New Yorkers are starting too. The majority of them aren't going to obey the new gun laws. It's time for the rest of the country to rise up!

So the chief of police for sd has stated, That within the next generation they could disarm america. They seem not to take in account that people like me who have children that taking away gun rights or any rights is nothing less than being a zombie to a dictator. We can not let these people destroy what america stands for, or what our founders and family members fought for.

Most amusing. When is someone in the oppressed state of CA actually going to "Rise up" and do something?
All it seems to come to is poking holes in the air with your finger while you all give up another gun...

Noverske made a good point and the government isn't giving enough attention to the relationship between psychotropic medicine and gun violence. What are they protecting $
