Default CA Super Majority 2A fun

http://news.yahoo.com/democrats-spar...200552207.html

This is the beginning of how dysfunctional a Super Majority in CA will actually be when it comes to CA politics.

Stenberg and Brown are feuding over differences of opinion on jails and prisons. This is a perfect time to have them feud!!

Lets see how many Steinberg anti 2A backed bills get passed now!!

Watch politics at work

Good, i hope they piss each other off as much as possible

on the downside, this surely is going to lead to a new "prison tax" sooner or later, especially once they start to catch all the unregistered new assault weapon owners

This is just the beginning of the Democrats infighting. They will now begin to stall and stifle bills that their enemy is trying to promote.

Steinbergs ego will destroy him! I would never want to cross or piss off the old political veteran Jerry Brown just prior to all the bills hitting his desk. LOL

Steinberg is NOT a smart man!

True! What he is doing to the Governor in the face of the feds and publicly is exceptionally dumb when it becomes an issue of the Federal courts and mandated decisions.

It really is a perfect time for Steinberg to pick a fight with Brown right now with all the 2A stuff coming up to his desk.

Steinberg's solution is to ignore the problem and stick his head in the sand for 3 more years. Hoping existing programs will reduce the population. Because it has worked so well thus far.

Why is he seeking to either manufacture criminals out of the law-abiding or make the law-abiding more vulnerable to the criminals he will eventually have to release should he continue to keep his head in the sand or just further up his butt?

The State of CA is having one "be careful what you wish for moment" after another because of how they seem to think that making everything under the sun a major crime will improve our way of living. Brown v. Plata is not a slap amongst the Legislative and Executive branch, it is the Eighth Amendment benchslap that they are going to have to suck up sooner or later.

I wouldn't get too excited over the Democrats squabbling over a few issues. This is how deals are made. I can see a deal where Steinberg supports Brown in his short-term fix of shuffling prisoners around this year, and in exchange Brown signs or allows certain bills to become law and works with Steinberg on a long-term prisoner reduction scheme.

Read the whole article. Your scenario is the exact opposite of what is happening.

Does Steinberg think he can just tell the courts CA gets more time to comply?

Hopefully this disagreement helps run out the clock on the gun bills.

Im sorry, but even if they fail this year, they will try again next year. The political environment is horrible in this state for the 2A.

I would bet Steinberg's betting if he just buys some time he can increase taxes and fees enough to cover more govt. bloat. Maricopa County AZ Sheriff could fix the overcrowding in under 6 months for no more money!

Maybe Moonbeam will veto Stienberg's bill in spite, I'd die laughing. If they just killed off all of the murderers/rapists/pedophiles, we wouldn't have these over crowded prisons.

For those of you who think the super majority is all that, this is what happens when minds that think alike get full control. They fight each other for dominance. I would not be surprised if Gov. Brown kills everything that Steinberg wants simply out of spite. This Jail thing is a huge deal for us in that it takes the focus away from our trivial cause (based on their thoughts)

BTW Perez is all behind the governor!! LOL What a beautiful split in a power grab!!

I have a bad feeling this collection of short bus rejects will manage to pull it together just long enough to do some damage before they implode.

Great news

This is some serious pissing....who runs the state? And does the state disagree with federal justices and contempt of court?

Brown will not cave and give Darrel his life acts bills.

I read the article. These are politicians, not normal people. You can't apply normal logic and rational thought to their behavior.

Stenberg vs Brown is like the Syrian Conflict, Hezbollah vs Al Quida.

It's better for everyone to just let them destroy each other.

I do enjoy watching them slap at each other. Unfortunately like with Yee and SB249, it doesn't repudiate the actual law and does nothing from discouraging it being reintroduced again.... it just buys us some time.

Buying some more time (maybe another year) is a good thing... 1) it gives us more time to get any last things on our "lists" and 2) time kills everything, less support when it comes back next year

Stenberg wants a huge government-ran mental health bureaucracy to form so people can be further controlled.

Brown wants to expand the prison system to fill the treasure coffers of his handlers in the labor unions.

So, socialist and communist argue with each other sometimes. Stalin and Lenin hated each other. This will do nothing to save the 2nd amendment in California.

They will be more than happy to take a break from fighting over power with one another - to take power away from you.

Steinberg's plan is extremely risky for the Democrats if that path is chosen. I have a strong feeling that the federal courts will not go with that plan and order immediate releases. That will not go over well with the your typical California voter. Steinberg and those supporting his plan will be indelibly labeled as "those who opened the prison doors."
