Default What the hell is a magazine clip?

I have been hearing this term for the past week or two on the various news channels and from Joe Biden. It started with calling magazines clips and has morphed into this. It's driving me nuts. As an aside I heard a talking head on a news show call gun control "massacre control".

some rifles use clips, the most common being the SKS and Garand. Mag fed rifles can also use stripper clips to reload the mags; M-14/M1A, M4/AR, AK 74 etc. but I agree, most people/politicians use the two interchangeably and it's annoying.

This is not just interchangeably, they're using the term "magazine clip".

A mag clip is a paper clip you use to mark an article in your favorite firearms magazine to read later

This is a magazine clip, or a clip that is loaded into a magazine.

It's the gun industry throwing in the towel. Like when "ain't" officially became a word in the dictionary.

Maybe we can use it to our advantage. We can propose a law banning 30+ round clips, but make 30 round magazines legal?
