Looks like they didn't want a challenge in court.

Try this one:

http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs...130329457/1010

Not removed, just "suspended indefinitely” I think it could still be challenged, it is still on the books (though proving standing may be a bit more difficult)

I call it a classic case of "not knowing what you are talking about before you try to make a law about it".

Somebody must have let Cuomo know he stepped in it. Who hasn't seen a first time gun buyer in their local gun store lately? The politics of the 2A is changing.

Wonder what this means for the court case challenging its constitutionality on 2A grounds.

Article didn't have any useful info.

So what if the ban on mag sales is suspended? The SAFE Act required you download all 10-rd mags to 7 rounds. That's the "real" part, and we need to know if that's still in effect, because that's where (in my ignorant opinion) Gura will have good success before SCOTUS.

The ban on magazines holding more than seven bullets was set to start April 15. Cuomo has said the law needs to be rolled back because manufacturers don’t make seven-round holders.
So they are going to wait until manufacturers retool their assembly line to make 7 round magazines? What if the manufacturers are not willing to invest the time and money?

I think it's all part of their "take a foot, give back an inch" thing when they get too much blow-back from their constituents. Perhaps they'll simply suspend implementation but leave the law on the books for future use. New York is a large enough state in terms of population that if this 7 round limit holds up in court, the manufacturers will start making 7 round retarded capacity mags similar to how they already do that to comply with CA's 10 round limit. The market will be worth it still to at least the big name manufacturers.

so if firearm companies refuse to make 10-rounder anymore, we could break hi-cap ban too? lol

They knew full well what they were trying to do, however the blowback must be quite severe, otherwise this "suspension" would not have happened.

They'll just bump it to 10, that's what my crystal ball says.

They'll just say "Hey, it worked in CA!"

The funniest part about the 7 round limit is that it opened eyes of those who claimed "I've always had 10 and don't feel deprived."

"Suspended" means "until the next politically relevant mass shooting, at which point it'll be unsuspended"

Let the flashbangs hit the floor.

I'd like to see the Republicans shoot down the legislation. That way you've got a ridiculously unconstitutional law on the books and the courts will have to shoot it down.

If they vote for this you end up with the law still on the books and ready to mess them over the moment someone figures out that some firearms actually do use 7 round magazines.

What's more, if the law remained on the books and were struck down you'd likely have the magazine restrictions go away entirely?

I hope the Republicans do not cooperate.

The Republican have leverage.

...You want to "clean up" the Safe Act legislation? OK, then it's 30 round magazines. That's what we'll vote for.
