New to the world of semi-automatic rifles. But I'd love to learn from guys who know what they are doing, so I'm definitely interested.

Now, I just need to find some magazines and, especially, ammo...

No it inst, but I am from the bay area and so are most of the people subscribed to this thread.

This will be a meet and greet for people in the bay, and the group of shooters interested in participating will be the group that will more than likely will be regulars to our shoots.

I'm interested. But I have no transportation and I'm a noob when it comes to tactical stuff. I just like to shoot at the range. But sounds like fun.

Transportation will be worked out when we have a date narrowed down.

Myself and Top Bee are planning on scoping a few areas where we could make this work smoothly, Cow Mountain is an open option.

We will begin with many safety briefs, and safety training; and assume EVERYONE is a noob.

We will have easy, intermediate and advance shoots as well.

Please standby as more details will come soon.

Take your time, bro. Better to get it right the first time. Than rush things and everything falls apart!!

Im interested... And if anyone is interested......

I wanted to let you all know that I will be hosting an Open Range on Friday, April 19th from 0830 to 1200pm. An Open Range is where safe firearms handlers can come and shoot on a private rented range. We will have time to shoot handguns, shotguns and rifles. As long as you are safe, you can shoot it and shoot from different positions and cover.

In the afternoon I will be hosting a Tactical Handgun class for those who are interested. Please let me know if you will be attending the Open Range in the morning and/or the Tactical Handgun class in the afternoon.

Just ask for a small donation to help cover the cost of the range...

I was thinking if we do this what do we need? My 2 cents.. we can add to it.

Target stands for paper targets
Reactive targets/Steel?
Portable shooting bench or small folding table and chair to match
Gun or yoga matt for prone
Spoting scopes
Coolers (I got a few small ones)
Folding chairs (I think I got 2-3)
Portable sunshade/canopy (huge plus, I don't have any)
Folding tables (I got a 6ft one from costco I can bring)

-------------
Also if anyone is interested in a starter Tactical handgun class I'm thinking of signing up for this later one.... it's in Morgan Hill. I heard it's GTG. I took the GreyOps advanced class but I'm looking into more classes by other companies... the more training the better IMO.

Also I'd be interested in the class. I've taken a few LMS classes and want to expand instruction

From past experiences

You dont want a huge group unless you have enough guys to keep watch, the zombie shoot at Panoche a few years back Approx 50+ people brought stuff and left it for others who spent the night to clean up. Dont bring TV's or electronics to blow up unless you are going to pick up all the pieces. Its not a place to leave trash, how will other people think of california shooters?

My small group grabbed our targets and gave the wood stands for the campers to toss in their fire but we picked up our crap.

Smaller groups are easier to keep an eye on in case someone is still setting up targets down range.

Dont bring a phone book or targets that spread everywhere as it makes a mess of paper everywhere to pick up.

Have the shoot end at least 2 hours before dark so you can pick up crap before you leave.

ham/2 way radios for communication.

heres a thread from the one in 2009

Yea... the more folks the more RO's we'll need... I've got some old 2 way radios I can lend out if needed...

I was thinking we may need 'range' areas where one is HG, one is rifles, and one might be tactical HG but they will have to be far away due to the safety concerns..

And everyone has to comit to cleaning the area up, bring trashbags and gloves to help out afterwards, etc..... if you don't wanna help clean up you're out.
