Default Shot my sig226 for the first time...

Functioned flawless . Loved it. 150 rds goes fast tho. And based on the unsolicited advice from some guy, I was shooting excellent groups; too far away . 50ft is not needed and stuff even tho my shots were all kill zone shots with one miss at neck level.Do people really spend 600 bucks on a pistol, 20 bucks abox on ammo, 3 bucks on targets and 15 for a lane to just shoot at 7 yards? I want to see what I can do,I want to see what my skill level can do, I want to know where I need to be aiming, I know my gun can hit the target at 7, geez. I could save 50 cents and just bust him in the head with a rock at 7yrds. Anyway, damn gun shot great from 5yds to 50ft, no issues at all. ****ing awesome.

Stand at 7 yards and try to get all your shots into the same hole. See you in a few years.

Sounds super fun. Oh wait... No it doesn't.

It's not about hitting the target at 7 yards, it's about accuracy. If you spray a target at 50 yards, it's not going to tell you much of your skill. If you can't accurately group at 7 yards, what do you expect to do at 50? Plus, if you're talking about shooting someone at 50 yards, good luck on that self defense argument.

If you're shooting controlled pairs and your groups are that that small, shoot faster. I suspect that you're not... Especially with a DA/SA gun, I think you'll have plenty of practice left to do...

Another fun game at 7 yards is Robin Hood.

Go with a friend and take turns shooting one shot. Try to hit each other's bullet hole. If you hit you get a point, if you miss, they get a point

DA/SA really isn't a huge impediment when shooting at speed.

I was shooting my SIG 220 and a 1911 GM at a recent class and we were shooting pairs from the holster, at 3 yards, in .7 secs and Failure Drills in 1.5 seconds...granted the pairs weren't touching...there wasn't much difference between the two in accuracy or speed

This ^.

Since you've mastered you 'kill zone shots' at 50 ft. Now work on getting your groups tighter at 7 yards, or even 5 yards, and go from there. It is more satisfying to have one ragged hole than to have a piece of paper peppered all over the place. The more you shoot the more you'll learn. I'm taking it you're pretty new? Things weren't always as expensive also. If you really think you're all that and a bag of chips go to a handgun course and get put through your paces. Shooting is a perishable skill and is something that should always be practiced. Starting with the fundamentals and building to whatever you want/need to employ.

Have fun, congrats on the new pistol!

Or try a game of William Tell. That'll test your skill

I know that I need a bunch of time behind the gun to increase my skill level, at the same time, at this point I'm not really going for pinpoint accuracy. I shot cool groups for me with this pistol. I have shot family and friends pistols since I was a kid, but this was my first time that it was my gun, and my first time at an indoor range. My first mag went entirely into the x ring at 10yards so I moved it out.

I wanted to see how Id do now , and compare that to my targets in say 6 months. I shot at a pace that I was sure would annoy the range officer, faster than I'm used to shooting my AR at Cordova . I was just having a good time. Shot some DA , most SA , but had a great time , 'cept for the unwanted advice.

I put 130 rds into 2 targets , the easiest to remember shooting deliberately trying to be a tight group is a group up at the number 9 at 45-50 feet that was 1.905"
