Default 30.06 Saiga

So, I was down at Irvington Arms buying another OLL for my .22 build (Damn you Toolbox for showing posting up your Spikes build ). My goal was to just buy the 1 OLL have Martin look at my FAL barrel and get out. Anyways, I get all curious about the Saigas on the wall and being the Great Shop Owner he is, Martin showed me all the Saigas he had up on the Wall.
Now I did not realize that there exists a 30.06 Saiga, but sure enough, I am holding it in my arms. First thing I do when I get home is break out the SGN and fire up the PC to check for ammo. Sure enough 30.06 is more available than .308 and at least at this point, cheaper. (Surplus Greek is around $50/Case of 480rds)
So, do you think a 30.06 Saiga can be worth it?

Here is what it could potentially look like (Damn you Tony Rumore ):

Just looked some more and the price I posted for the Greek ammo was from the CMP. Everywhere else it looks like a 480rd case is at $150.

Give them a call on Monday to check. I had my Daughter and GF with me so I did not focus on the Price. LOL... But, what I do remember between the 30.06, .308, and the .223 is that they were in the $300ish+ range. I looked at all three calibers so I canīt accurately associate each gun with price right now.
I can tell you though, if you want the 30.06 you should pick it up. Iīve been reading on some of the Saiga forums that the 30.06 is not as readily available as the .308, 7.62x39, and the .223.

Man, that doesn't even look like the original rifle. He did a really excellent job on it. This is the Saiga 100 we're talking about right?

Poor mans M76. I'd buy one in that caliber, or maybe 7.62x54R.

Is this version limited to stock magazines, or are there mags from other rifles that will work with it?

Cato: If a modified AK BB is used then you operate it like you would a traditional AK w/BB

niceguy: Iīve just learned of the Saiga 100 today and from what Iīve been able to read so far, I cannot find anybody making a 10rd mag for it. It seems to only take its own factory mags right now unless someone else knows of a company trying to making higher capacity magazines for it.

I think your SOL trying to find "other manufacture" mags in 30.06. Seriously, who else makes a "30.06" AK style rifle??...nobody.

Maybe a BAR mag will work. LOL!

I remember seeing something about some one converting a BAR mag to fit in the Saiga 100...can't remember where though...
