Default How do you keep your FFL manufacturing traffic down?

Hi there,

I'm going through all of the paperwork that is involved for an FFL manufacturing permit and was curious what you guys do to keep the foot traffic down at your shop? If your address is public, what prevents a long line of people at the front door that think they can stand in line for a gun or watch a gun made etc.. Also, for warranty purposes, if you are trying to keep your address below radar (to the general public) so you can focus on production, what address do you give them?

Just looking for a little insight ... are gates and more security your only solution?

Thanks in advance

1. Your ffl ap has many line items that become public info.
2. Gates and security are not a bad idea.

3. Find a ups store for a po box. Use that for warranty returns.

4. Make it clear that you are not a gunstore when people call.

Welcome to the trade. What are you looking to make?

Just lock the front door and when people knock, don't answer it. You can also try not putting up a large sign that says, "GUNS!" on the site.

Jay (Franklin Armory) knows what he is doing. I tried going to his website listed physical address once because I was bored and in the area. I didn't find it because it isn't there. It is a mail forwarding service. He had to explain to me that the address on his FFL is correct and I didn't bother to look.

Having recently visited Jay's shop I would say he is doing it right. Make sure there are no signs, every door is locked, ect

Thanks for the advice Jay. We are just on the ground floor getting everything in order so that production can start ASAP. I originally thought about a PO box but wasn't sure if it was a "grey area". We have a whole host of parts, guns and some creative ideas that we plan on putting into production.

Thanks again for the advice, maybe we can get together one day.. I'd love to hear about your business and just talk shop.
