Default New Kahr pm9 feedback

Just picked up a new pm9.
The 15th round fired and blew the side panel off.
The casing was stuck in the barrel.
New Winchester fmj 115 gr target bullets used.
So I'll be returning it to the dealer and see what I need to do for repair.
Pretty frustrating.
If a round got stuck I wouldn't be to worried about it.But the side panel being blown off at the same time has me concerned.
I'd love to return it and find something else. I doubt that's an option.
The good part is I had just broke the news to my wife about getting the gun.
She wanted to try it, and it was her second shot that malfunctioned.
(well, maybe you can throw it at the bad guy?)

Um, buy an M&P or a Glock.

Sounds like an ammo problem, not a Kahr problem.

Wow. I bought a used PM9 a few years ago, I put maybe 5k rounds thru it. FMJ, +P, anything. Not one problem. I foolishly sold it to get on a list for an M&P Shield. The only reason, is the Shield trigger mimics the ones on my Glocks vs. the DA trigger of the PM9.
Now, I have no PM9 nor a Shield. If you stay mad at the Kahr, sell it to me cheap and I'll worry about sending it back. I'm in FresYes.

It was a toss up between a 26 or the Kahr. 26 was to fat for what I wanted for concealment. I'm obviously second guessing my choice.

What's a side panel? Is it a part of the frame or slide?

I have one and it has been a great CC gun, especially for pocket carry. One of my coworkers bought one about the same time and his side panel was loose from the getgo. I guess they still have some quality control issues. My only complaint is the mag release spring. It seems to be fatigued. It hardly takes any pressure now to release the mag. If you are in the market for something else I would highly recommend the Walther PPS in 9mm. Its just a little bit bigger but is excellent for IWB carry. I like it so much the PM9 hardly leaves the safe nowadays.

I'm sure it will be fine after I trudge through the "sending it back and finding the problem" process.
I just paid 700+ for it. If that's cheap for you then its yours

And I guess it very well be an ammo problem. Hopefully theres no damage. I don't know if I should keep using this ammo or not.

The side panel is designed to do that in the advent of a over pressured round, keeps the gun from having a kaboom that destroys the frame.
Now any gun from any manufacture can be a lemon, even Glock has but out a few.
The novice gun owner will condemn the whole lot of being inferior junk that they wasted their money on and should of bought brand X instead.
The more versed gun owner knows that sometimes crap happens and bad luck strike's occasionally. There are thousands of perfectly functioning PM9's out there. The gun is not known for having a lot of problems. If it fits your needs fix it and drive on.

I'm a devoted Glock person but I do have an appreciation for the ccw world and it's well known that the Kahr PM9 is an outstanding platform. What can I say? I'm surprised at your news. I would definitely give Kahr a chance to make this right. This may sound Free Market gung ho but you could have bought an entry level AR-15 for what you paid for that Kahr.

Give that company a chance to make it right.

I run a Ruger LC9 for ccw and no shame in my game. If I could get a Kahr right now then I would.

Storm-thanks for the info on the side panel. And yes I know sh#t happens.
This is my first "pocket gun" purchase. I bought it because of the good reviews, and talking to others who own them. The other guns I have on my ccw are just too heavy/bulky. I wanted something that wouldn't just sit in the glove box.
I posted here to share the problem, and because of all the good helpful info I get. Share my frustration?
I lurk here often, but don't post. I ignore the useless smart *** responses.

TRTBA-lol-I sold an AR to pay for the Kahr. The profit alone paid for it,and another lower. Supply and demand.

I'm glad my wife wasn't injured when it happened. She carries a small 38,and has never fired an auto. The plan was to get her comfortable with it and add it to her ccw as well as mine.

Your ammo had a double charge, the Kahr did what it is designed to do. With the overwhelming surge in ammo sales, the factories cannot keep up, which probably means lots of overtime, tired employees, which leads to more mistakes like this.

I bought the G26 thinking it would be small. It was, in the hand. But in the pocket holster, yipes. Enter the PM9.
Perfect for me in the pocket holster. I could have it in pocket, reach in and around it to grab a quarter or my keys if I accidentally put them in the same pocket as the Kahr. Get it fixed, polish the ramp and practice with the trigger. It will amaze you!

This is true.

I am no fan of Kahr but if you yell at them you will get shipping paid, this fixed, return shipping paid, and back to you in less than two weeks. Yell at winchester while you are at it, give Kahr their contact info......heck yell at everyone.

You left out an "m" in your user name.

I have run over 400 rounds of my reloads thru my new CW9 without issues.
