Nice looking rifles. Enjoy them. Sure is fun having the brown truck show up.

And lucky you getting an HRA op rod!

"Looks to be a re-park, but I'm not sure how tell for sure."
pull back the bolt and look at the feed ramp where the BBl meets the reciever..if you see machined steel, its not a re-park...if its parked it is a re-park. These guns were originally parked barrel and reciever seperatly. On a rebuild, they just plug the bbl and dip the whole assy...This is how it was explained to me. Nice guns,by the way....you scored!

In that case it does NOT appear to be a repark, both are bright machined steel in that spot.

Is it pretty common for these service grades to come with new, or near New wood stock?

I hope the two HRAs I just ordered from CMP will look as good...

For what I understand you have about an 80% or better chance of getting new CMP wood rather than old USGI wood.

Orest posted some kind of stats recently but as I recall it was something like 25% USGI walnut, 25% new birch, 50% new walnut with the birch being phased out.

Those birch ones look very nice but sometimes they'd come out really orange. Just not very consistent.

Just to clarify, its not just the feed ramps but the whole chamber face or breech will not be "in the white" if reparked.
In the white

Reparked

Very nice Rifles... Congrats!

I sure like to new birch stain V. the older "Pumpkin."

(looks like the li'l Boot is pretty pleased as well.)

Good bore numbers too. A lifetime of service left.

Let us know how they shoot... from field positions.

Or sign that original USGI stocks are near the end of their "use by" date. I imagine that a lot can happen to wood in 50+ years.

Are you saying at this point you'd recommended not requesting a USGI stock?
