Thumbs up GUNS & GEAR USED IN THE RIMFIRE MATCHES

I thought it would be interesting to post pictures of some of the guns and gear that people actually use to shoot the Cal Guns Rimfire Matches. All pistols, rifles and maybe your own range rigs, rests, range boxes, spotting scopes and whatever else you use on a day at the public range or out the backdoor of your own property.

Here is what I use for the matches at an indoor range, lets see what you use.

10x, I really like that range box. Did you make it? I recall years ago there was alot of diy plans. A range scope would be really handy, even indoors.

Here's my stuff - High Standard The Victor, CZ 452FS, ammo, targets and there's my go-fast range bag (aka backpack).

And here's my highly technical two-piece benchrest.

Wow Sando, that looks like a nice range. How far out does it go?

Here is what & where I have been shooting lately.

"Ruger 10/22" Style Charger built on the Razor 10/22 and a Marlin Model 25. I need a different bench, the Flintstones bench has to go.

Out back.

Nice guns sando , I love the Victor and Full Stock CZ is awesome. What range is that ??? And to answer your question I did build my range box myself and over the years I have probably built 10 of them.
Thanks for posting

Thanks! They are nice, maybe even too nice - there's only me to blame for a bad shot!
I thought that box was handmade - nicely done.

That's Field Time Range in Stanton. Less than a year old and the nicest indoor range I've ever been to. 25y is the furthest it goes.

But I agree that the guys who can walk out their back door are the luckiest. That would be so great to pop a few rounds off without scaring the neighbors. Plus, a one-of-a-kind bench to boot!

Ruger 22/45 with docter red dot

CZ 455 22lr convert. (not used in match yet....yet) The Barska scope has been returned to the store I bought it, very unimpressed with it.

I grew up on 10 acres in Shingle Springs and my family would come up and shoot off the back porch & BBQ every weekend. I have been trying to get back into the hills for about 15 years...mission accomplished, even tho it is a rental.

The donkey on the other hill makes way more noise than I do...If you have never heard a donkey bray you are missing out. Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

Nice 22/45 "the blood gun" and I love the CZ. Looks like the CZ may be the gun of choice for the matches. This would make a good commercial lol

10X,

The Brno Model 1 pictured was manufactured circa 1956. I have a few Brno rifles so I forget the exact date.

Now my question to you is, do you use that box of Remington Golden Bullets to conveniently store your expensive target ammo? Or do you use Golden Bullets to give the other competitors a chance at winning?

BTW nice range box.

For pistols I enjoy using the following for precision shooting. No special setup for me when shooting pistols just ammo, targets and guns.

You know, that's funny you saw that. After I posted my pictures I also asked myself where did those golden bullets come from. It was all I could find that night, they worked ok but I use blazer or federal for most practice or matches.
You have a nice collection of handguns and you also have a Model 41, NICE with the 7.5 inch barrel. Thanks for the compliments on the home made range box.

I bought a platinum membership on 2-18-13 once i found out i can shoot my Big Cat break barrel air rifle along with all my other weapons. Was going to buy at the ocshooting range in Brea but it is to cramped and only is 50 feet.
Just joined CG, life is good. Still will go out to Burro and Angeles for longer shooting. Looking to buy a front gun rest shortly.

This month I think I'll try and get to know the twins better. Just picked up the Mark II FVT today and she sits next to her sister the 93 FV I got a few months ago.

Now I need to find more than 25 yards...

I usually just stuff everything into my backpack, but I am definitely interested in those pistol range boxes. Will take pictures of my tools of choice once I'm reunited with my weapons in 39 days.

Heres my 50 and 100 yard scoped machine...
Savage MK II BV with a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 scope with target dot reticle. Harris bipod, a rear bag and a home made cheek pad complete the rig. I generally bring three different boxes of ammo each distance and post whichever does the best that particular outing. I've won at 50 and 100 yards with sk std+, RWS R50, RWS Match rifle, Federal UM22, and most recently Eley Team.

we'll see your gear when you get back, maybe you can shoot some match targets and post them this month. Thanks for compliment on the home made range box. I made a few of those a long time ago but I might have to build some more they seem to be growing in popularity.

Covingtonhouse, do you shoot at Laguna Seca ? I try to shoot there when we are at a race weekend. Racing on Saturday, shooting on Sunday, it doesn't get any better than that.

Looking forward to it. Trying to shoot matches leaning over a rock is getting old. Here are tomorrows flavors. Some for fun & some to see if they even work.

And the guard dog making sure nobody takes it.

Yeah I shoot at LS. I used to also shoot at Los Altos Gun Club a lot when I lived in Santa Cruz. We've since moved to the other side of the bay, so Laguna is a lot closer. Plus they have a 300 and now a 500 yard gong for high power. You either have to know someone with a ranch or go to Panoche Hills BLM to stretch out that far around here. Sometimes for large events they close down the range. It will be closed for two weeks in April for the big bike race Sea Otter Classic. Gonna have to figure out when to get out for the April match.

So we went to a 50 yard indoor range in Grass Valley called "The Range" it was a great place to go and I had never seen an indoor 50 yard range, it had 4 lanes and was well lighted. heres some pics of my scoped Mossberg 340 BA.

A 50y range plus a track for your target - that's luxury!
I like the Mossberg, especially the bolt handle. Is that original? Mossys don't get much love in some parts.

Hey Sando, thanks. Yes that is an original 340 Mossy that I picked up, it shoots a lot better that I do and it's in decent shape. I just refinished a Mossberg S42M with a lacquered Manlicher stock and black barrel and parts, just waiting for the target aperture sights. Cool range right ????

That would be a pre serial number (40s?) montgomery wards model 87a. Shoots 22lr, 22l and 22 short. Its pretty cool little rifle. My god father gave it to me a very long time ago.

Very cool range indeed. I asked the RO at my local range if he knew of a 50y Indoor in the OC. He just laughed. "Real estate is too damn expensive!"
