Default S&W M&P-10, .308!!

I was at Gunrunners in Duarte this afternoon, the owner showed me a S&W M&P-10 in .308! It came with a bullet button installed from S&W.
It has a 18" barrel,1/10 twist,5R rifling, ambi safety, ambi bolt release and flash hider. It comes with one 10 round magazine, DPMS style.

They have one in stock and another one on the way.

I live close to Gunrunners. Good guys in there. These M&P-10s are newly introduced right? Give a review soon! How is the weight on that beauty?

G&R Tactical is selling non-CA compliant models for $1599

http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin...ion&key=311308

They have other CA compliant rifles, I wonder if they'd be willing to slap a BB on these?

Looks like they're OOS now. They'd been in stock for the last three days...

I am also wondering if it's a LR or AR pattern? I think it's great they are coming out with a 308. I would still say it's cheaper to build(or pre panic it was). I finished my LR308 pattern gun in Nov with a no name lower and 90% DPMS parts, came in around $1150 with Harris bipod and a pmag.

did some research and appears its a DPMS style ( not AR10) which means it takes Pmags, you can tell by the curve where the stock tube threads are. the AR10 style is angled..

how much is gun runners asking anyone know?

Damn you OP!!!!

Just this morning I was telling myself I'm done buying long guns for now because I'm out of room (and really don't need another)... however if I remove a shotgun (that I don't really like), I'd have room...

Then the SAME DAY I see this thread... I thought I was done (for now)

Off to ask FFL if he can get...

Thanks (I think)

I really like it though

Nice to see that S&W is shipping new product to the local shops but I doubt Gunrunners will be selling it for MSRP.

the one I bid on (on GB) sold for 1625... if I hadn't recently bought an MR1 I would have gone higher on my bids, but I limited myself to 1600 (and almost got it).

Check out GB - if you really want one, they can be had for less than 2K (sometimes quite a bit less, if you are persistent).

Unfortunately most GB listings don't work for CA - unless it's SKU 811309, you will need to ask the seller to install a BB or a Kydex wrap. I'd totally buy a new M&P10 for under $2K, considering most AR-10 type rifles are above 2.5 grand now.

Has anyone seen accuracy results for M&P10? Hopefully it's around 1 MOA, so it can be used in SASS role.

Just bought one for $1700.00 at J&R in Livermore. Now, I have to wait...10 freegin days and I'll be burnt out on the thing before I take it up to the range. Looks like a nice rifle though for the money. I really hope S&W figured out the 2013 trigger. I've heard bad things like too heavy and kind of in between a 1 and 2 stage... but not really. Anybody actually shot one?

New trigger, free float handguard system, and if the telescoping stock is floppy you'll have to replace it with a magpul stock. Those are my thoughts looking at them in the pictures.

Is it easy enough to buy a replacement 5R .308 20"-24" barrel these days? A medium or heavy profile one. While M&P10 is a fine rifle, I suspect it might not have really outstanding accuracy.

kydex wrap alone is a no-go. You still have a flash hider and a collapsing stock

It's a fine rifle... but the accuracy is lacking. How do you know this? Have you fired one yet?

Interesting that it's in .308 instead of 7.62x51, not that it would likely matter. But you would think S&W would chamber a military style rifle in a military caliber.

Weird that it has an ambi bolt hold-open. I've never seen that.

I suspect it just by looking at the spaghetti barrel It's not free-floating either. But yes, I hope to fire one, maybe even this month. My goal is to make a 1 MOA rifle out of it... 1.5 MOA would be fine too

I'm new to AR platform, so not sure if it's easy to find a precision barrel without braking the bank.

The .308 is the higher pressure civilian version of the 7.62x51. So you can easily shoot the 7.62 ammo through it without worrying about the pressure of factory ammo.

I scored one this morning at Gunbroker for $1600 with a BB installed (SKU 811309). I guess it's a pretty sweet deal for a new AR-10, so quite happy about it Will post pics when I get it.

just ask that they email invoice and not send with shipment (sometimes they do that anyway)... that's what I do and my FFL is very trusting with my stated price
