Why does the title of this thread say microwave?
Quote:

the magazine had melted and the oven was heavily damaged
The article says nothing about a microwave. The pistol wasn't even in the oven, it was the magazine.

told police he took the magazine out of his gun and put it in the oven. He put the gun itself in a drawer,

And no pistol in the oven, just a pistol magazine with 4 rounds.

Interesting that the UK new source added this portion sort of as a technical commentary, but that was not to be found in the US sources.

"However, without the high-pressure of a gun chamber, the round is less likely to be deadly since the explosive force is dispersed."

One possible explanation is the OP posted at 5:20am and the story was "updated" at 6:36am.

Maybe the article did mention microwave and they removed that?

As to the injury I wondered how she was injured when rounds cooking off should have been contained by the oven. Possibly she heard a round cook off and she opened the oven door to see what's up as another round cooked off. Still, I'm surprised she was injured at all.

I guess that the thread saying
Pistol in a microwave made me think that this was a second incident.

Second to the early thread on the same article

OP: Do you work for a news outlet like channel 11 or maybe a newspaper yourself? Perhaps you posted a link to a different story?

You state that a pistol was kept in a microwave.

BUT, reading the story the pistol was kept elsewhere, and only a magazine was kept in a OVEN, and NOT a microwave. There is a difference between the way these two things work and there is certainly a difference between a magazine and a pistol.

:?
