Default SD North County Meet - Iron Sights 3/6/13

Join us again at Iron Sights shooting range (618 Airport Rd., Oceanside) on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 7.00 pm for another North County meet. We’re excited to team up with Iron Sights and they have allowed us the use of their lounge/classroom to use as a meet ‘n greet area for the evening. I will be there with some men's/women's Calguns gear (all sales support Calguns/CGSSA.org). I wasn’t planning on having food this time, but it’s an option if enough people want to throw in for something.

This is your opportunity to shoot with your fellow Calgunners!

The fine print:
There is limited parking along the side and back of the range. Don’t park in the neighbors’ spots. There is a dirt lot across the street from the range, and parking is OK there and on the street.

Range fees are $14 for the first shooter, and $8 for add’l (more reason to pair up with another Calgunner if you’re solo- split the cost). You can shoot as long as you want until they close (10 pm). They have a huge variety of rentals available including .22s all the way up to a Wilson CQB and Nighthawk GRP, and several shotguns and rifles. The range abides by the “buddy rule” so if you plan to rent a gun, make sure you bring another person to shoot with you, or your firearm with you (which takes the place of bringing a friend).

*If you've never been to Iron Sights you'll need to purchase a shooting card for $2. This is a one time fee for new-to-the-range shooters.

Pistols- no holsters, no rapid fire
Rifles- up to 30-06 is ok
Shotgun- Bird, Buck and Slugs ok only if lead shot
Ammo- no steel core, steel plated, steel case, tracer, armor piercing or Wolf brand. They will check your ammo when you come in.

REMINDER: When you're there, your actions represent the entire Calguns community. We should always take responsibility for our actions, and treat their facility with the utmost respect. We also need to leave the meeting room as clean as we found it.

Iron Sights doesn’t allow reservations, so shooters will be getting lanes as they become available if there’s a wait. Please respond to this thread if you’re attending. Guests are welcome, but we are limited to 20 shooters. Last time they weren’t busy and they gave us a couple lanes on the rifle side and a block of 5 lanes on the pistol side.

I see a lot of people on the SD roll call, so come out on Wednesday and put some faces to those screen names! Bring a friend and introduce them to the shooting sports. Hope to see you there!

Darren

Look forward to seeing everyone. We may be having a 1911 owner's mini-meet, so if you got one, bring one.

The last time I had a 1911 guy shoot next to me at a CalGuns meet, he told me that he hates Glocks and has never even shot one before. I convinced him to at least try shooting it so that he would have a proper opinion. So, I shot his 1911 while he shot my Glock. At the end of the night, he admitted to me that it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be and that, though he still wasn't going to go buy one, he would reconsider bashing them so hard.

That's right....BadKitty can charm even the most hardened 1911 owners. You have been warned.

Now, when have I ever said anything bad about Glocks? You may be all tough with your CGSSA title, but until you've shot the HK, there's nothing to be said. And there are nice 1911s beyond those that just go bang

I never said *you* said anything bad about Glocks; I was referring to another CalGunner at a previous meet.

And the title means very little - I'd be lucky if I could hit the broad side of a barn!

I will try and show up for a bit if it is OK. I cant shoot till about December due to c-spine surgery, but would love to start meeting some folks! (Don't put me down if it would bump someone who would be shooting. Not 100% I can make it)

Sorry to say I have to bail out of this one. I'm glad I rechecked the date, it is on my anniversary and that would not have gone over well. I will try to make it to the next one. Please take my name off the list.

Is it ok if I just come by to say hi? My money is kinda low so shooting wont be available to me till the week after. (next paycheck) I am new to CGN and would like to meet others in the community. Would that be kosher?

Everyone is welcome, and we usually get people filtering in and out depending on what time they can make it. The room at Iron Sights is a bit small, but I won't turn anybody away. Stop by, introduce yourself, check out some of the limited clothing for sale and make some new friends. I think we may have a mini-1911 meet going on, so if you're interested, check out some of John Browning's finest models.

Doh!! I can't go.

Hoss already knew that my getting to Oceanside from Otay Mesa was going to be a tough drive. But, my plans have changed and now I need to be in Sacramento. Yeah...too far to drive. LOL

BUT, I am holding out hope to make it to the next meet at P2K.

I'm not visiting, I work at Camp Pendleton. I just happen to have my main residence in EG for CCW reasons. Hoss, we couldn't make it. Work kept us late today. Maybe next time.
