Joe - lookin' good! I like how the barrel lug area you filled in and I can't wait to see how you machine it for a std barrel.

Also looking forward to the Ares pics! Hopefully one of these years I actually get my frames!

Heres a couple pics of the ares,

Bad pics I know, I'm at work I'll take pics later with better lighting. The safty isn't the correct one I bought a drop in wc grip safty instead of the gunsmith fit one, I'll get the correct one and put the other on the p12.

Your Ares frame is looking good makes me want to get one. Sadly I can only afford to do one project at a time

Thanks guys I'll take some better pics later today. Of course I built it with a 7" barrel and SSE after than I shortened the barrel and converted to semi. =)

@ Joe~I got mine off gb for 98 bones. It came with everything but bushing, night sights even. Its stainless and factory new. If you check the rudius build page (still waiting for mine) I think Barmarley used a llama slide to complete his build it's really not uncommon. I also found a source for extractors if you want to go the Numrich route. Let me know and I'll post the link.

What did you have to SSE? Do you have to do that for a pistol you build off an 80% lower? BTW great builds guys! I don't have the tools or skill to even begin to try something like this. Its great to read about tho

Must do in Cali, unless you wanna build a unsafe handgun.

Hi Im new to this forum and the 1911..I have been watching this thread for a while and I just picked up a Sarco para frame its labeled by them as a P14 but I am confused if this is correct. It is a single stack LDA I think..Maybe someone can tell me.

What different parts (from a standard 1911) would i need for this model? trigger was only obvious one to me at this point based on the casting..can I follow the Kunhausen manual and prints? so many questions!! this is exciting but overwhelming. I've built 80% AR before but this is a whole other animal. DustyLungz you in NJ?

-joe

Me and my buddies 1911's, $230(I think) sarco commercial slide kits.

Of course both were built CA SSE compliant =)

-joe

I've been thinking of mabe doing a small ares frame build party(norcal) I donno just throwing that out there. Prob gunna need some more tooling first tho just to make it easier.

Those look sick dude

Once this craze is over and everybody gets parts back in stock I am definitely going to build an Ares frame.

Of course it will also be after I save up enough cash

Are these parts proprietary or something.. I'm a little annoyed by Sarco now selling me a frame (mislabeled as a p14) that I cannot get parts for.

P14 can be standard 1911 or LDA, techniclly they didn't lie. You didnt read the discription did you haha, I think they discontinued the lda because it wasn't popular. I'll be taking on the challenge prety Soon to convert it. I honestly don't think it will be that hard but you know how that goes.

Double stack would be a little tougher, because I wouldn't be able to come on from the top to do the trigger track like a single stack. But we will figure sumin out.

This whole time I thought you had a double stack haha, I just looked at your pics. I should be working in that in a couple weeks.

Hey dusty how you like that llama slide? I'm going to pick one up.
I really need about 4-5 more slides and barrels haha

@ MR the slide assembly link I sent you is for a 1911/para clone
check the resemblance
I belivieve the msh and sear from this model would work also.
it's the
MINIMAX II

Thanks for the compliment Dusty, you know that frame from the firestorm is remarkably similar. I have a llama mini max single stack and the grip safety is shorter than a standard model but the mainspring housing is the same length as an officers model, the opposite of what para did with theirs. The parts from the mini max II look like they are worth a try. The smith alexander mainspring housing works perfect for the p12, get the flat one, the palm swell one sticks out the back and doesn't look good in my opinion.

That plunger tube makes me a bit uneasy and I am not looking forward to it. Brian blew right through it earlier in this thread like a pro, have to revisit that post.

Update****Mail man came today bearing gifts! So now I have a pair of mag catches. One plastic and one metal and extended. Also a pair (2) of Pierce grips for P-12's , also it seems standard 1911 grips screws are too long mother!!! anybody else have that problem?

Default Llama notes

I took some measurements on pictures of minimax and minimax sub compact. Attached PDF has my data.

Looks like if an officers MSH works for P13 but P12 uses an even smaller one, then the sub compact is a no-go for P12.

Dusty - I ground down the integrated grip bushings and drilled and tapped for std 1911 bushings. One of the bottom grip screws if tightened down a lot, prevents the mag from going in - if I leave the grip screw slightly loose everything if fine.

Hi I just got a sarco p12 (C45288) frame I already had a builders kit, pretty sure most of it wont fit the new frame... I was wondering where did you find your parts? Can I use some of the parts?

Depending on what you have at least some of it will work.

Officers or commander slide and barrel (clark/para ramp)
Hammer
Sear
Disconnector
Pins
Slide Stop
I think the safety will fit too, not sure on that one
Possibly MSH depending on size

So basically the parts that are specific are the trigger, the mag catch, the sear spring, and the barrel (because it has to be clark/para ramp).

IDK, I am still debating if I should keep the two I got or not. The barrel and slide are a bit of a deal breaker just because there are not really any cheap options for a commander slide and barrel in a para ramp.

I wish I could afford this!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Para-Ordnanc...item1c313ce99c

It's so ironic, if I didn't have so many projects open I could get it easily.
Alas the wife has put her little foot down!
