Default Model 18-4

Put some Hogue grips on my Model 18-4. I still like the look of the wood grips better.

Alas, my 629 doesn't seem to handle .44 Mag all that well(it's at the gunsmith right now being retimed), so I'm thinking of getting something that can handle more than a handful of Mag loads.

Its not photoshopped, its the camera shutter speed. If you could see the regular photo I have, you can see blurring as the hammer fell. It was just miracle timing when I took this photo. The second one is actualy from a video that I went frame by frame and took a snap shot from which you can tell by the grainy look of it.

You can also see the trigger is pulled completely back. And I am not saying some one couldn't alter it, but you can see the reflected light from the muzzle flash off the clips, pistol and gun case.

New pics of the 29-5 Classic, with incorrect Magna combat grips (though they look damn sexy!):

...bought with one from the good folks at High Bridge Arms last year -- at one of the Cow Palace shows. It still does pay to go to the funshows!...

Never took any pics of my 1955 K38 until today. Figgered I'd post them before I sold it:

Pictures of my new S&W 27-2 with a 6" barrel, in nickel with smooth/presentation target grips; just picked her up today. Came with presentation case (in OK condition, one of the hinges is busted) and tools/papers. Serial # is N381xxx dating it to 1976/1977. Grooved .500 target hammer and checkered .500 target trigger are standard, of course.

Note the custom modification to the factory Patridge sight: a red plastic insert - done very nicely. (pardon the fuzz on the barrel)

Detail of topstrap checkering:

Overall the condition of the gun is really sharp condition - flawless mechanically, and the nickel is mirror-like, with the exception of a little bit of cloudiness just under the edge of the Target grips (probably because they've never been removed). The only real finish wear on the gun is on the cylinder sides, and I imagine that's because the gun was stored in the presentation case for a long time. This baby came from the High Desert (and Las Vegas before that) and so I imagine the low humidity keep the fuzz from absorbing any moisture and degrading the finish.

Not bad for a gun that is ~33 years old!

cheers,
--Neill

Is that really a factory mod? Are you going to get it lettered?

Poor wording on my part; I'm pretty sure it's a non-factory modification to the original sight. The folks over at the S&W forum had never seen one like it (and I certainly hadn't either).

You betcha - the very one. Arrived later today, but the delay was causing me to have visions of a missing gun, police reports, presentation case turned into a pile of splinters, etc...
