I'm 1166 and very anxious! I have both white and anodized... and a jig too. I'm hoping this will be next weekend's project. No notice yet!

What's everyone using for LPK? Any issues or does one work better than another?

Eric overnighted me Friday, Had one cut today.

Cutting the trigger and hammer pins first.

Hot off the press

After blasting, going to engrave and anodize when I decide on the logo

Nice work, but why the SN? One of the luring factors for me to build up from 80% is the fact there's no markings/SN on the receiver. That's just me though. lol To each his own. I do like the sandblasted look.

Hopefully, you test fit all of the parts from your LPK before you had your lower anodized. The mag catch slot on my lower was too narrow, and both of the set screw holes needed to be re-worked in order to get the set screws to work properly in each. My $0.02....

I put the s/n so that it can be identified if stolen or have the option to register/sell it (still have to decide what city and "mfg" I want to engrave into it). It's my designated pistol lower so I wanted to make sure I engraved pistol on it.

I mocked it up yesterday on my complete upper and lpk kit so That one is good to go. My first one was replaced due to the mag catch not fitting. Its going to take me a while before I get it anodized unfortunately since I have to do it on a weekday

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks great. I agree, I fully intended to bead blast mine for the matte aluminum look. Might get one Ceracote or Duracoate'd too.

But I thought we were told they would be at the end of last week. That also took into account of the "fix"
This is why I hate pre paying for stuff. 1700.00 is a lot of cash and updates would be nice.

Hey Guys... how are you doing with the correction to the mag catch slot? Is this going to effect the ship dates much? I'm very anxious waiting for my ship notice and hope the delay is minimal. Can you please post an update? I can't speak for others, but without an update I'm fearing the worst!

I got mine today. It was shipped out on the 16th, order 1150, and it DOES NOT have the mag catch issue (tested with a DPMS mag catch).

Once thing I noticed is for things like the bolt catch, you have to use their items, as the mil-spec parts kits don't fit correctly. I think that is the only one though. I honestly don't mind having to hammer stuff in as I have the proper roll pin punches and whatnot.

Sorry, better to re-word this. A Milspec LPK will work fine. You don't use the roll pin for the bolt catch that comes in the LPK, you would use the one which CNC80 provides in their little parts kit which comes with the castings. Sorry for the confusion.

Yup, ran into that myself. If you look carefully you will likely see that the buffer retainer pin recess was cut after the buffer tube tower was threaded. This sent some of the threads askew.

The real fix is to re-run the tap through it, but I managed to use an old buffer tube and a vise to "re-thread" it. Still kinda tight, but I don't swap buffer tubes that often.

First run minor annoyances aside, this is damn fine part. I'd of reported in with a range test, but I haven't found the proper pistol upper just yet.

Has anyone who's milled one already thrown an upper on theirs and actually shot it yet?

Looks like they still have (had?) some tweaking to do on their manufacturing process. Relatively minor issues I think, so hopefully they have addressed them.

Hi guys,

Yes we have had a few growing pains to say the least. I will address the issues individually to make things clear.

1. The Mag Catch:
The first 25 units machined had the tight mag catch slot due to a finishing (clean-up) pass not being done. Simple fix but it did cause some customers frustration. This has been corrected!

2. The Set Screw Holes:
Again, the first set of units that went out were tapped with a plug tap and not a bottoming tap. If you have a unit that has this issue it can easily be fixed with a 10-32 tap. All units are now drilled deeper and tapped deeper with a bottoming tap. This issue has been corrected!

3. The Buffer Tube Threads:
There are two main types of buffer tubes available on the market, Commercial and Mil-Spec. Of these two there are many different companies that manufacture different styles. The specs on the Commercial tubes have smaller OD (outside diameter) threads 1.168", while also having a larger OD tube. The Mil-Spec has the opposite with OD threads 1.185". This is due to the manufacturing process in each style. That being said, there are tolerances for each so one Mil_Spec tube might have .002" smaller OD than another Mil-Spec tube. We have found that the Spikes Tactical are the buffer tubes that seem to be really tight. We have adjusted for this issue which was to cut the threads .001" deeper, yes one thousands of an inch can cause a lot of problems. If you have a buffer tube that is just a bit too tight you can lightly sand the outside of the threads with 320 sand paper to get the perfect fit. Again we have fixed the issue to ensure that all units leaving from now on will accept all buffers (that we know of) and we are also drilling the retaining pin hole before threading so the threads do not get marred. This issue has been corrected!

4. Shipping Delays:
Our goal is to provide everyone with a top quality product at a reasonable price in a timely fashion. However some things are out of our control. Not to make excuses but we did have a machine blow a spindle, actually twice, and it is being fixed at the moment but we have started using a smaller machine for production to keep things rolling. With the smaller machine comes slower cycle times for the parts. We are still on track to get your parts shipped out in less than 4 weeks time so please be patient with us. With the way things are right now in the industry we are doing our best to meet the demand as quickly as possible. We are working on it!!

We stand behind our products 100% and want to build a reputation for quality and cutting edge design, so if you have an issue with one of our units please let us know and give us an opportunity to take care of it. Thank you all for your business.

Jimi

Finished my lower today. Looks great. I did run a tap through the holes, and ran a commercial buffer tube onto the threads to re-seat it. Everything seemed to go smoothly.

Any word on the jigs and if they will be shipping with the lowers?

Yes, they are in process this week. We will have the first production pieces machined and back from anodizing early next week to get them included with lower shipments.

Thanks for the update Jimi. Good to hear things are still moving along. I think I'll be extremely happy with my lower when it arives. I'm loving your attention to customer service and look forward to purchasing other products from you if and when you supply them. I'm interested in an upper receivers in 5.56 and 308. I would sell my noveske 308 lower to buy a 308 lower from you.
